SECTION REOPENS FOLLOWING POWER OUTAGE

The Dimension Power and Energy Company has announced that the Section dimension has reopened following a power outage that struck the dimension about two weeks ago.

The announcement was made in a post on their website. DPEC workers spent about two weeks attempting to restore power to a part of the Section where the lights had stopped working. A spokesperson said that the cause of the outage appears to have been due to equipment failure.

“We had our workers examine the electrical wiring in the dimension and it seems to have been a result of equipment failure,” the DPEC spokesperson said, “This is a common cause of outages in the dream world which, depending on the severity, could take a while to fix.”

Equipment failure can be as a result of old, faulty wiring that hasn’t been maintained in a while. While workers worked to resolve the issue, they managed to put in new wiring to prevent it from happening again.

“Yeah we started fresh and replaced it with new electrical wiring,” the spokesperson said, “If we’re lucky, we won’t be seeing another outage in here for, oh I don’t know, maybe another decade or so?”

Visitors are glad to see that the Section has reopened.

“I like coming here because it’s an area of the dream world that’s empty, but it’s not outdoors,” one visitor told me, “It’s a good place to take a nap without having to worry about noise.”

“I always come here to study!” one student said to me, “Not having distractions helps out when I’m trying to finish homework. Thank Morpheus that it’s super quiet here.”

“I’m glad it reopened, but it’s still fishy an outage even hit this place,” one skeptical resident told me, “I still think the DPF covered something up here.”

Despite ongoing rumors, DPEC has debunked claims that the DPF forced a shutdown of the dimension for classified briefings here.

“No, the DPF didn’t shut this dimension down. There really was a power outage that cause an area to be completely left in the dark,” the DPEC spokesperson explained, “Stop believing false information online. There was no cover up.”

The Section has reopened to normal foot traffic. Visitors are asked to stay relatively quiet when passing through.

SIGHTS OF THE DREAM WORLD WILDERNESS

The Dimension Forest and Parks Service has been offering guided tours of the wilderness in the past month and I recently went on one of these tours. 

The tour itself was quite amazing! I have never ventured into the wilderness of the dream world, so this was a new experience for me. There were various landmarks we visited along the way, and here are some of the ones I got to visit and some information on them!

Toubiyon Falls: This waterfall is actually not technically a waterfall. Apparently, some reckless adventurer opened a vortex that reversed the direction of the falls! The vortex is still open to this day and can be found under the falls! However, I was told that swimming into Grenouille Marsh is prohibited, and I didn’t want to get wet either way!

Nina Crater: The Walesky Impact Zone has a LOT of craters from the very early days that the dream world was forming. One particular crater, the Nina Crater, is seemingly in the shape of a heart! It’s not known if the crater itself being a heart was intentional, but it makes a lovely landmark to visit! I was told that couples like to come here and take pictures inside of it to really seal their relationships!

Finite Tumblehole: This landmark was really interesting because at first glance, it’s a big hole that goes straight into the ground! However, research has shown that falling into the hole eventually spits you back out! You could technically jump into it and come back up safely, but our guide told us that you’d be falling for about three hours or so before you got back out. I’ll pass!

Kazan Peak: This landmark is a volcano that is quite peculiar! The volcano itself is active, but not at any current risk of a grand eruption. This is because the magma in the volcano is actually warm and safe to venture into! It’s believed that early dream worldian residents altered the composition of the volcano to make the magma safe to use for other purposes. Lava that creeps onto the surface is safe to touch and our guide even encouraged us to do so. It was a wonderful feeling!

Invierstacion Anomaly: This landmark is actually new as it was formed in 2022 following a freak winter storm that engulfed much of the dream world. While the storm subsided, this particular area of the wilderness was stuck in winter! Researchers cannot determine why this area of the dream world is stuck in the winter season and the DFPS turned it into a landmark. Wanted fugitive Francis Robert P. Jackson is actually credited for this landmark as it was determined he was behind that freak winter storm in 2022. I just wonder why this area is in permawinter!

Those are some of the sights I got to see on my tour. I highly recommend everyone to take a tour into the wilderness this summer before the DFPS ends them. Get out there and explore!

Dear Adri, when did you get into liminal spaces?

Hello Limmy! My interest in liminal spaces actually began around 2017 or 2018- I’m not sure. Back when Twitter was still sane, there was a hashtag that was trending that was something along the lines of  “#PlacesWhereRealityFeelsAltered”. Clicking the tag, it was then that I started to see a lot of descriptions of places in situations that felt…off. An empty airport at night, the bathroom at 3 A.M., an empty school hallway, etc. Some tweets even included pictures and this was my introduction to liminal spaces. 

Of course, at the time I didn’t know that these were “liminal spaces” and even then, the infamous Backrooms post hadn’t been made yet which made liminal spaces pretty popular. There really is something strangely fascinating with liminal spaces that I enjoy a lot and getting to incorporate them in a story is a lot of fun!

Dear Adri, are some characters inspired by other fictional characters?

Hi Carrie! You may not know, but some character designs- and sometimes personalities- are inspired from other fictional characters from other media. Let’s talk about a few…

Lucid’s design is interesting because his face is pretty covered. He wears both a black mask and blindfold, but did you know this was inspired by two of my favorite characters? The black mask is taken from Kakashi from the Naruto series and the black blindfold is taken by Gojo from the Jujutsu Kaisen series. I wanted to make a character that had both of these items and thus Lucid was created. Eventually I created a story behind why he wears both of these items and the rest is history.

Finnegan’s design is really good, but part of his design is inspired by Hawks from the My Hero Academia series! Finn’s aviator jacket is inspired by Hawks’ own jacket which also has a fur collar. I also tried to make Finn’s personality a little bit like Hawks’ but not too much. Did you know that Finn was originally going to wear glasses similar to Hawks? I decided at the last minute to not incorporate this, but just imagine Finn with cool glasses!

Francis is a unique character, but his design and personality is a mix of a few characters. Design wise, I decided to give him ginger hair similar to that of Tartaglia from Genshin Impact. His blue crystal earrings are inspired by Dottore from the same game. His lab coat outfit, believe it or not, is actually taken from Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb! As for his personality, I’d say it’s mostly based on Herbert P. Bear from Club Penguin. He’s a mix of a lot of things (no wonder he’s like that).

Did you learn anything interesting about a character? You’d be surprised how much of my interests I may sprinkle into the game and story.

Dear Adri, is Lucid really that strong, smart, and influential in the story?

Hello Lou! You’ve probably heard from various characters about how “amazing” or “influential” Lucid has been in the dream world, but Lucid hasn’t shown his true potential in the game or story as of yet. So…is he really that strong, smart, and important?

Yes he is! Lucid is very strong and is the most powerful character in the story and pretty much in the whole dream world. He’s also the smartest character in the dream world- I mean, he’s able to solve mathematical equations in his head in an instant! I may not have specified, but Lucid doesn’t really like to show off his powers because he believes that while the power he holds is immense, it should be used responsibly. Also, Lucid doesn’t want to get cocky and be a show off.

As for his influence, you’d be surprised at how much Lucid has influenced things in the dream world. Remember, Lucid was a student at the Academy who excelled and surpassed everyone’s expectations. He was also a phenomenal agent at the DPF from the day he first applied. Lucid’s influence helped bring forth ideas and rules in the dream world as the knowledge he shared was quite important in advancing dream worldian society. However, following his trial, these accomplishments were essentially erased and it’s as if Lucid has zero credit for anything that was incorporated in the dream world that he had large influence on. 

I can’t say more of Lucid’s story here, but with most quests that come and go, we learn a little more about him and his story starts to unravel some more. I think some of the bigger Lucid lore has yet to be revealed, but some things about him have been subtly revealed. You’ll just have to guess and wait if any of your theories about him are correct!
