SUMMER PEAKS, SEASON TO WIND DOWN SOON

By: Arial

According to the weather service, the summer season has already peaked in the dream world, and it is expected to wind down in the following weeks.

Per historical records, the dream world begins to start feeling hints of autumn towards the end of August. At the moment, temperatures still appear to be normal, although the DWPS is admitting that this summer season wasn’t so hot like other years.

“We’ve looked at temperatures early in the season and saw many abnormal average temperatures,” Cirrus says, “Our agency believed the temperatures should have stabilized by the end of the season, but overall, there’s little change from our data taken in June.”

The DWPS admit they are not sure what caused this period of unusually below average temperatures for summer this year, but with the recent rift that was discovered and made public by the DPF, there may be some fault to that.

“It’s possible the rift caused a dream world-wide temperature anomaly that caused temperatures to be below-average,” Cirrus explains, “After the rift was contained, we did see some temperature stabilization, but it was nothing extraordinary.”

Portals can create “side effects” to the environment, if not opened correctly, but it isn’t anything on a grand scale.

“Portals can have little hiccups if you don’t open them correctly!” Nate of the DPF tells me, “That’s why you gotta take your time to get it right. If the rift was the reason temperatures weren’t as hot this year, then maybe that’s why last winter was cuckoo bananas! Hmm…”

Cirrus tells me that summer is winding down and that autumn is around the corner.

“Take these last two weeks of summer with ease. Autumn is coming up and we’ll be issuing the seasonal outlook then. I think it’s a lovely season. Cooler weather, scarves, and pumpkins…lovely!” She tells me, “We’ll keep in touch. Until then, enjoy summer!”

A ONE ON ONE INTERVIEW WITH SYLVERAN

By: Porter

Hello Subliminal Tribune readers!

I am here with an exclusive interview with Sylveran D. Angelus- perhaps the most famed bounty hunter in the dream world! Sylveran has caught countless criminals throughout the years. Its scary appearance may be intimidating, but he is laid-back and enjoys drinking and listening to rock or jazz music in his free time. Here is a portion of the transcript from the interview.

PORTER: Hello, Sylveran! It is a pleasure to talk to you!

SYLVERAN: The pleasure is all mine.

PORTER: So, you’ve dealt with a lot of fugitives on the run. What exactly makes you so successful at catching them?

SYLVERAN: You wanna know? Look at this gun. It has several functions, but she hasn’t let me down yet. It doesn’t kill, don’t worry. At the very worst, it stuns them real good.

PORTER: Many at first doubted your bounty hunting service, but it’s made you pretty rich?

SYLVERAN: Listen, I didn’t get into this business like around 90 years ago to get rich. I believe the dream world society is fragile, and those running around doing crime, need to do the time.

PORTER: Speaking of that, you’re well known to be after Lucid…is there any other reason why?

SYLVERAN: Lucid’s the most wanted man in the dream world. His bounty has gone up recently following accusations of things he might’ve done this year. It only fuels me more…but, I suppose Lucid and I go back to our DPF days. Never worked directly with him, but I can’t forgive what he ended up doing.

PORTER: And that is…visiting the real world?

SYLVERAN: He’s smart enough to know the rules. He’s really smart…smarter than me, I suppose. What he did is inexcusable and he needs to go back and pay for his crime.

PORTER: Are you sure he’s the one behind recent events in the dream world?

SYLVERAN: Mere speculation, but if anyone could do such things on a dream world-wide scale, Lucid could easily pull that off.

PORTER: Would you ever be friends with Lucid again? I know there’s history, but-

SYLVERAN: I don’t think there’s a scenario where the two of us could be friends again. He broke a promise…you think promise breakers deserve second chances?

PORTER: What did he break?

SYLVERAN: Some things are best kept secret. Let’s move on from this topic, shall we?

For those interested in reading more of the interview, please continue reading on our website under the Interviews tab and select the most recent one conducted by me. Happy reading!

Q/A: Ask Lucid

Dear Lucid, are there vehicles in the dream world?
By: Carry Ryde

Hello Carry. There are motor vehicles in the dream world, but they are quite scarce outside of the District. Almost all motor vehicles are located in the District- where most of the people of the dream world reside. This also includes aviation, railroad and sea vessels, which also mostly reside in the District.

Dear Lucid, do you think you’ll ever be on social media?
By: Twee Thur

Hello Twee. That depends on the curse I bear. I am unable to utilize gadgets like modern telephones, so I do not already have any form of social media in this day and age. Even Nate struggles sometimes, but he gets the hang of using some applications. Maybe it is because we are both old, but I can always try to learn how to be “cool” and “hip” on a website like Liminal.

Dear Lucid, are there urban legends in the dream world?
By: D. Hook

Greetings D. Over the course of millenia, urban legends have always been a thing. Many are stories to keep us entertained, but also wary of the possible dangers one can face in the dream world. Some are meant to scare us, and some are downright comical.

There is a famous urban legend of a runaway train that is said to be without a conductor. It is said that the train can be seen or heard sometimes on the railroad that interconnects certain dimensions. If you were to board this train, you would be trapped in it forever.

Another urban legend is that of the red-eyed raccoon who resides in the Forest. It is said to live there and that encountering it is said to bring upon a year a bad fortune to those who cross its path. Surely such a creature does not exist, right?

There are plenty of more urban legends out there in the dream world, but most are better told during the Halloween season as scary stories. You can always look up urban legends on the internet or better yet, check out books that discuss this topic from a library near you.

Dear Lucid, where did you study prior to the DPF?
By: Stu D. Ant

Hello Stu. Before getting into the DPF, I studied for a time at the Akademeia of the dream world, or Academy in English. Its origins date back many, many millennia, but it is where those willing to pursue great knowledge enroll. You may have heard that I was their most prestigious and excellent student there, but alas. They have wiped my name from most records there after my trial, so do not expect to see any of my accomplishments or records out there in public.

Dear Lucid, do you like pumpkin pie?
By: Samson E.

Greetings Samson. I do not mind eating pumpkin pie, although it is typically better to eat it during the autumn season. I can actually make pumpkin pie as well, and have served it to some friends throughout the years. Perhaps when the time comes, I can offer you a slice?

Dear Lucid, what do you know about Sid from Biz Mart?
By: Eden T. Cal

Hello Eden. Hmm… I have heard stories of those who visit Biz Mart and talk about the cashier who works there. Sid, short for Sidney, is described as an ordinary adult who works a minimum wage job out in the middle of nowhere. Sid is aware of the dream world’s existence, but does not seem to be fazed by the strange people that visit his store.

Biz Mart, as you know, is the easiest point of access from the dream world to the real world. It would make sense for Sid to see such strange things. Other than that, he is quite easy to talk to and is not like “the other humans” in the dream world. Surely it must take a lot of time and patience to run a little store like that with limited employees.

Sid does tell customers to watch their step, so I suppose he is also looking out for them so they do not fall into the dream world. Perhaps I should go pay him a visit and see how things are around there. After all, I heard he sells books, and I could surely use a good book right now.

Upcoming Events:

Now- Summer Party archived in Rewind Room: To my heartbeat’s sound…

August 25- New dimension portal: The rooms might be a little weird, but at least it’s quiet.

September 1- Birthday Party: A jolly good party for a jolly good fellow!

September 1- Patch dimension returns: Cal’s Pumpkins are almost ready to make their appearance again in the dream world. I wonder what he’s been up to in the meantime?
