FASHION SHOW RETURNS FOR SECOND TIME THIS YEAR
By: Arial
A fashion show has once again popped up in the dream world.
Returning for the first time since last February, the fashion show has returned, with some returning and some new themes in store. The organizers of the event picked a mix of themes from the first fashion show and decided to incorporate some new ones to spice it up a bit.
Ahead of time, the Cafe dimension had some construction going on to prepare itself for the event. After almost a week, the set is in place, and the red carpet has rolled out.
“Voilà! The fashion show has arrived!” Rouge, one of the main organizers of the event said, “The carpet is rolled out and the runway is glowing! Time to put on your best fits and show off to the dream world what you got!”
The Cafe’s book room has been temporarily transformed into a fashion runway with its own backstage dressing room area. There are chairs lined up on each side, cameras in the front, and a judge’s panel to the side. A list of the themes for the week can be found inside the dressing room area.
“You may not know there’s a different theme each day nor what those themes are, and that’s okay!” Rouge explains, “We provided a poster in the dressing room area that lists out the dates and what the themes are for those days. Since today is the first day of the event, that means that it is zombie themed today! Of course, actual portrayal of zombies- not the Neapworm kind.”
The zombie theme is a new addition to this fashion show; other new themes incorporated for the event include an element and circus theme. Rouge says a mix of new and old is a good idea for those that want to see something different while also keeping some popular themes from last time.
“We decided on these new themes because we think it is fairly balanced between old and new,” they explain, “Of course, there are plenty more themes we could’ve chosen from, but we thought these were the better ones to go with!”
Rouge explains that anyone is allowed to participate in the event and that this may not be the last time you’ll see a fashion show event take place.
“Anyone can come on down and show us what they got! Whether you participate in one, a few, or all of the themes, we hope you get a chance to show off your style! “ they exclaim, “Of course, this might not be the last time we see each other, and if so, there may be more new themes in store by then. So stay tuned and come on down!”
The fashion show event runs through today until September 21. Visitors and participants are advised to expect medium to heavy foot traffic in the area until the event is over.
DDCP REVIEW AND GREEN LIGHT CAL'S PUMPKINS
By: Porter
Following a voluntary request by Cal of the Patch dimension, the Dimension Disease Control and Protection has made their way down on said request.
If you recall last week, Cal had asked the DDCP to come down to inspect his pumpkins themselves and verify that they are completely safe and void of any disease. This comes after he was tricked into selling infected pies last year that released a dangerous parasite into the dream world, later dubbed as NEAP-1.
This year, Cal is giving out pumpkins from his patch that he has grown and tended to over the past few months. Now that the Patch is available to visit as Autumn arrives, he wants to clean his image, which was wrongfully soiled by those pies.
DDCP Chief Ophelia came down in person to inspect the pumpkins after receiving the request. She was at the Patch for an hour or two before coming to a conclusion about the pumpkins she inspected.
“I came down to do some tests on various pumpkins that Cal has here at his patch,” Ophelia said, “After finishing up those tests, I have come to the conclusion that the pumpkins are your ordinary pumpkins. Nothing strange, nothing bad about them.”
The DDCP chief also had a taste of the pumpkins to show its safety. She says she doesn’t expect herself to get sick from them in the days to come.
“I voluntarily had a taste of a pumpkin to show to everyone that they are okay. I don’t think we’re going to see a repeat of the NEAP-1 outbreak,” she said, “Cal was wrongfully framed for that by- we’re inferring based on evidence- Francis Robert P. Jackson. The human fugitive who’s been causing a mess in the dream world.”
Ophelia says that the DDCP is continuously monitoring for any new signs of a potential outbreak, especially within the next month.
“The job of the Dimension Disease Control and Protection agency is to always be on alert if and when a disease starts to emerge in the dream world- old or new,” she explained, “NEAP-1 has been fully contained, but should it re-emerge, or a novel disease emerges instead, we will be there to respond ASAP.”
Following the statement made by Ophelia regarding Cal’s pumpkins, Cal says he expects people to lose their fear from last year and come visit him at his patch.
“I sure hope people come on down and take some pumpkin’s with ‘em,” he says, “I worked hard to farm these! Sure hope people like ‘em!”
The Patch dimension is open through the autumn season for anyone to visit. Visitors are asked to expect medium foot traffic through the area.
Q/A: Ask Ophelia
Dear Ophelia, what is RADS?
By: Slie Pless
Hello Slie. You have probably heard about RADS in recent days, especially if you follow along for DDCP related news. I will explain to you what it exactly is.
RADS, an acronym for Recurring Abnormal Dream Syndrome, is caused by a virus that does just as the name suggests. When you become infected with this virus, it will cause you to have the same recurring, intense dream for about a week. It’s described as intense because the dreams are vivid in nature. They feel very real until you wake up. Even then, by the time you wake up, you’ll be questioning if it was actually a dream or not.
The virus is contagious as it spreads primarily in autumn when the temperatures are just right for it to spread. It spreads primarily through coughs and sneezes, though it doesn’t stay airborne for too long. Rest assured, once you get RADS, it is not dangerous. It’s a nuisance, but it is not life threatening if you have it.
You should typically look out for symptoms like coughing, sneezing, and most importantly, vivid dreams persisting for a week or more. There is no cure or vaccine for it, but there are treatments you can easily get at a pharmacy to reduce the intensity of dreams and help you sleep better.
This year’s RADS season is underway and we are currently sitting at 52 cases total since September 1. The cases remain sporadic in nature so the risk to the general public is low. We’ll continue to monitor this anyways and provide weekly updates through the autumn season.
Dear Ophelia, is it possible for Neapworm to reemerge?
By: Comm Bach
Hello Comm. That’s a question I’ve gotten many times since the cure came out last November. Truth be told, there is a possibility, but the chances of that are extremely minute.
Neuro Erratic Aggressive Parasite, or NEAP-1, is the official name of it- although the public calls it “Neapworm.” The parasite has been eradicated from the dream world as we have not seen one case of it pop up since last November. Since then, the DDCP has been monitoring for any isolated cases, and we haven’t seen anything since.
NEAP-1 is still in the dream world, though. It is secured within a secret DDCP laboratory where it is being tested and observed, but also strictly kept under lock and key. The DDCP keeps a “copy” of every disease known for studies and observation. These diseases are strictly contained and almost impossible for them to escape into the dream world. The idea of it sounds scary, but the chances of one escaping is extremely low, but not zero.
With this in mind, NEAP-1 shouldn’t reemerge again, and much less this year. Of course, the DDCP is always monitoring for diseases anywhere, and will respond ASAP if a new threat emerges.
Dear Ophelia, do all bodies react the same to the same disease when exposed?
By: Bea Hayves
Hello Bea. To put it simply, no, not all bodies react the same to diseases when exposed.
In the dream world, there are many kinds of species and types of people. Since there are many kinds of species and people, their bodies are all different from one another in terms of structure and reaction to different things. This also includes diseases and illnesses like the influenza virus or E. Coli bacteria.
Let’s take the influenza virus, for example. Let’s assume we have a dream demon, a plant creature, and a human for this hypothetical explanation. We then expose each patient to the same strain of the influenza virus and see what happens. The results might surprise you.
A dream demon’s body might react slightly to the influenza virus, but nothing over the top. A plant creature’s body might not react at all to the virus. A human body may have the most reaction to the virus. As you can see in this hypothetical explanation, bodies react differently when exposed to the same disease.
That being said, you should probably consult with your doctor if you have questions about whether a disease can lightly or greatly affect you. Underlying health factors can also determine the reaction your body might have when exposed to such an illness. Don’t assume that just because your friend caught it and they’re fine, you’ll be fine too. Always make sure to practice basic hygiene and check in with a doctor if you have questions, especially if you have other health problems.
