DPF CLARIFIES 'NO THREAT' FOLLOWING MORE SPECTRE SIGHTINGS

By: Porter

The Dimension Protection Force is actively clarifying about a message they sent out to the public regarding the recent sightings of spectres in the dream world.

In a post made on Liminal, the most popular social media site in the dream world, they reiterated that they are still receiving reports of sightings throughout the dream world, but ended their post with ‘THERE IS NO ACTIVE THREAT TO THE PUBLIC AT THIS TIME.’

Some users on Liminal poked fun at the DPF’s post by wondering why the DPF was yelling at them, while others made their own memes and jokes in a similar manner. While it may be fun and games, the DPF later explained that they are bringing this point up because of other recent threats to the dream world in the past year.

“Yes there are spectre sightings more than normal with abnormal behaviour, but no we’re not seeing a direct threat associated with these sightings,” DIA Chief Daiki says, “We do think that these spectres may somehow have been resurrected without permission.”

Chief Daiki says that spectres are the physical manifestation of a past living human, but these manifestations are not natural. They often require to have been resurrected from death, but do not physically exist in the dream world for too long in a physical form.

“Phantoms are the basic form of a deceased person that can exist, but they are transparent in nature and usually don’t wander the dream world for too long. Spectres are the same person, but physically manifested and brought forth by resurrection,” Daiki says, “To do so, you would have to be performing necromancy or some other dark magic, and you need a licence to do that.”

With this in mind, the DIA is speculating that someone in the dream world may be resurrecting previously deceased humans and not properly sealing them up after a while. For context, any human who passes away in the real world has their spirit end up in the dream world, but these spirits tend to live in their own ‘district’ in the dream world and don’t wander out into the rural dream world often.

“There’s a special place in the dream world where human spirits can live freely in their after life,” Daiki says, “Dubbed as the ‘Quartier Fantôme,’ it is an autonomous region in the dream world where only human spirits reside. Because it’s autonomous, the DPF does not have jurisdiction here, so we cannot make any decisions within its boundaries. The Council, however, still has word here, but they rarely intervene.”

The DIA chief speculates that whoever is resurrecting spectres left and right does not know how to seal them back and is likely doing this practice illegally.

“We once again ask the public to come forth if they have any tips or information that could help us figure out what’s happening,” Daiki says, “Though, I already have a peculiar feeling about the person responsible for this…”

If you spot a spectre or have information about any suspects, please dial *1 to report it.

FOG TO ROLL IN, WEATHER SERVICE SAYS

By: Oswald

In an unprecedented forecast, the Dimension Weather Prediction Service is forecasting foggy conditions across a good chunk of the dream world next week.

According to the weather service, recent models and forecasts have begun showing fog forming in various outdoor dimensions by sometime next week. The DWPS have been carefully monitoring this for a week now, but the models continue to insist on fog rolling in across much of the dream world.

“We can’t necessarily say that we weren’t expecting this,” Cirrus of the DWPS says, “The Halloween season typically sees fog forming, but that’s not until the mid-late part of the month of October. For there to be fog forecast this early is a bit strange.”

While most of the dream world is already foggy, they say this particular fog that will roll in is green in color. Green fog is associated directly with the Halloween season, so while not particularly abnormal, it is still something to watch.

Some local residents are excited about the green fog rolling in soon, while others are a bit bothered.

“Green fog rolling in? That just means the Halloween spirit is coming in full swing!” a local farmer says, “It really puts you in the Halloween spirit yourself, you know?”

“Eh, seems kind of ominous,” Epsilon of the Apartments tells me, “I’m not sure why some people are excited for GREEN fog. It looks almost like toxic gas to me, or perhaps someone let out a big one, y’know. Kind of gross.”

“Green is THE most AWESOME color that exists!” Almoral, a local necromancer says, “It’s only natural that fog in October is green! After all, Halloween is also THE best holiday ever! Can’t have a Halloween without green fog, nuh uh, nope!”

The DWPS says that once the fog rolls in, they don’t expect it to fade back to normal until sometime in early November.

“Whether or not you like green fog, once it arrives, it’ll be here to stay through the end of the month until early November,” Cirrus says, “But don’t worry- it’s not dangerous or ‘toxic’ like some people might see it. Fog is just a normal meteorological phenomenon. Plus, I suppose it’s a sign of the Halloween spirit coming too!”

Q/A: Ask Nate

Dear Nate, what happens if someone dies in the dream world?

By: Moe R. Tahl

Hi Moe! Ah, the subject of death. It is rather somber, but it’s something that most of us will have to face at some point in our lives. Y’know, when people die in the dream world, they actually never really leave. I’ll explain!

When non-humans pass away in the dream world, their spirit does contain itself within the dream world, while at the same time, not being there. The spirit itself is at peace from any pain and suffering, but unless you decide to do some necromancy, you won’t see that person again.

This is for non-humans in the dream world. Humans are actually at a big risk when it comes to death in the dream world. When humans die in the real world, their spirit naturally descends into the dream world to ‘live’ out their after life. However, if a human dies in the dream world, this natural process becomes corrupted and their spirit unfortunately does not contain itself in the dream world and it unfortunately becomes lost. No form of necromancy or dark magic can resurrect or save them at that point.

But that logic applies to us non-humans too! If a dream world resident dies in the real world, their spirit is unable to return to the dream world. Thus, their spirit becomes trapped in the real world and ultimately lost as well. This is one big reason why travel to the real world is prohibited because it comes with the risk of death and ultimately becoming lost for eternity in the real world.

Death can be a touchy subject for some people, but it is the reality a lot of us must face at some point. Just keep in mind that life after death can vary if you are a human or non-human in the dream world. But of course, that’s as much as I can say! If you really wanna talk about death, you should see my friend Almoral. That’s practically his field!

Dear Nate, where do ghosts live in the dream world?

By: Habbi Tant

Hi Habbi! You may have heard from my boss chief Daiki that ghosts, or in this case phantoms, actually reside in their own little place in the dream world away from the hustle and bustle of dream world residents!

It is known as the "Quartier Fantôme" or “Phantom District” or “Phantom Quarter” or simply just the “Ghost District” if you don’t wanna remember all these names! This area is kind of hidden from the dream world’s eyes. In fact, it’s not easy to get there!

From what I’ve heard, there are special entrances in the dream world that can take you to the Ghost District, but these entrances are typically located in graveyards and cemeteries. I believe you need a special candle to even find these entrances, but those can be hard to make or find.

I’ve never been to the Ghost District myself, but I heard that it is like its own little world! The DPF doesn’t have any jurisdiction within it, similar to the Pole dimension, but the Council still can decide for certain things in the district, though rarely. The district is made up of deceased humans who live their afterlives here. I’ve heard that the district does find itself with some divisions between regular deceased humans and famous deceased humans. I’m not sure of other details like the size of the district or rules within it, but dream world residents are technically not banned from entering it. It’s just that it’s already difficult to access, but not as difficult as reaching the real world or the Void!

Even so, if you manage to get into the Ghost District, you might feel alienated amongst the deceased. Honestly, I’d rather just leave them alone if they’re not bothering any of us! They already lived their lives, so we shouldn’t bother them anymore with any problems by us walking in there. Still, I wonder what it’s like there… Do you think famous deceased musicians hold concerts there for the public? I always wanted to hear Frank Sinatra live in concert! Perhaps one day we can find out together!
