DREAM WORLD AVOIDS WINTER CHAOS, CLEANUP ONGOING

By: Porter

The dream world lets out a sigh of relief as the winter storm finally dies out.

Many businesses and agencies across the dream world are beginning to slowly reopen following a winter storm that did not cause a massive disaster like it did last year. According to the DWPS, the record snowfall rates recorded last year were not observed in any dimension this year.

“Looks like we averted a major crisis with this storm,” Cirrus of the DWPS says, “All of our weather stations functioned and stayed operational during the entirety of the storm. We did not observe any dramatic or historical record snowfall like we did last year. It looks like we really dodged a bullet.”

The DPF notes that there were no major incidents through the snow storm. They note that less than 100 calls were made for medical and/or fire services, compared to last year when there were over 500 calls for such services.

“Pretty relieving news that this storm was not terribly bad!” Leader Finnegan of the DPF’s rescue operations team tells me, “It’s nice to see the public heeding all of the guidance that was issued so there wouldn’t be any major incidents. I’m glad things weren’t terrible! On that note, I decided to resume operations for the team starting this Saturday. Roads by then should be fully accessible without any difficulty. We can’t wait to be on the job again!”

DPEC announced that no widespread power outages occurred during the winter storm and acknowledged that the public fully understood what to do and what not to do before, during, and after the event.

“We’re glad people heeded all the advice that was thrown at them,” DPEC Chief Lumière says, “Our workers are slowly starting to head out and fix some spotty outages, but otherwise, things look wonderful!”

DPDS announced that they are reopening all services once again starting tomorrow and that postal materials should get back on schedule ASAP.

"We talked with various agencies and concluded that conditions should be safe for our workers now," DPDS Chief Kaige states, "We look forward to handling all postal material starting this Friday, February 3."

The DWPS says that any additional winter storms for this month are not expected and add that the rest of the season should be calm. Early February remains cold, but things slowly warm up by mid-late February.

"Temperatures across much of the dream world will remain cold or cool, but expect them to slowly rise towards the end of the month," Cirrus tells me, "Spring is just around the corner! So if you like winter, you better enjoy this last round of winter before it comes to an end."

In regards to the winter storms, the DPF's investigation unit remains occupied with examining data. DPF agent Nate admits that things may be taking a turn soon.

"I can feel like things are about to take a turn and get interesting," they tell me, "This morse code we found last week in the data is too good. We just have to figure out what the heck 'S-E' even stands for or if it's just the beginning of a word. We'll take a crack at it!"

In the meantime, things look good for the dream world. Roadways are being cleared from snow and temperatures are stabilising once more. For information about the weather in your area, you can always visit the DWPS' website or visit your nearest forecasting office, which should now be safe to do so.

FASHION SHOW IN THE WORKS FOR VALENTINE'S WEEK

By: Arial

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and a particular event is in the works by a local group of fashionistas.

According to insiders, the group is currently working on getting a fashion show underway next week, which would coincide with Valentine's Day.

"You see, we've come together as a group and decided to organize an event to celebrate fashion," Rouge, a local fashion designer tells me, "It would be nice if people would be able to participate! We only got approval for it to be a week long, but there's going to be a theme each day!"

Because it goes on for seven days, each day will be a different theme. Those participating should dress with the theme in mind for that day, according to the plans.

"So we have a set of themes going on for each day so hopefully we can get some good pictures of people dressed up and such!" Rouge exclaims, "Ranging from dressing up as a pirate, to something futuristic, to even fantasy, we might have a theme just for you…"

When asked where the fashion show is going to be held, Rouge said it will be located upstairs in the Cafe dimension.

"Yes so, we asked the Cafe if they would allow us to hold an event upstairs since they don't really use that floor for much and they agreed to let us do so!" Rouge explains, "Not only will it bring people to us, but it'll bring people to them so it's a win-win really."

Rouge says the fashion show begins February 9 and will run until February 16. Those interested should keep an eye out on Liminal for information regarding the event or contact Rouge or the Cafe for additional information.

Q/A: Ask Nate

Dear Nate, how come the dream world is so empty in many places?

By: Al Bimiself

Hello Al! I see you’ve been going around the dream world and asking yourself that question. The dream world is so vast and immense, and because of that, you’re likely to encounter areas with zero signs of life!

That’s kind of scary, I know. To be fair, large population centers are gathered in areas that are livable or have stuff to do. You’ll encounter life in the Apartments, District, Cafe, Mall, Square, Club, etc. These are places that people either live in or go out to entertain themselves!

Some dimensions are quite empty and void of life. The Desert? Yeah, that dimension is very empty. The Sidewalk? A quiet place. Certain levels of the Backrooms? Yes, that is a very scary ambience. These places don’t really have much to do there, so dream world citizens naturally don’t go there.

Unfortunately, because there are more “empty” dimensions than there are of dimensions with life and crowds, humans are more likely to stumble upon and wander aimlessly through these dimensions. The Backrooms is a very good example of this. Humans who noclip here have a bad time wandering around in such an environment. Imagine being a human in a dimension that is quiet, cold, dark, and a bit surreal…yeah, I wouldn’t be having a good time!

Still, you’ll encounter signs of life in any dimension if you’re lucky enough. Plus, you can always ask for directions for anyone. DPF agents are always scattered around the dream world, and our badges easily help anyone identify us as one. Just come up to us and we can help you out with whatever you need!

The dream world is quite vast, dark and empty in some places, but it’s not too bad! Sometimes quiet can be quite peaceful for our minds, but then again, sometimes quiet is violent. I guess it just depends what kind of person you are!

Dear Nate, why do some dimensions appear to be from a different time period?

By: Sven Entese

Hi Sven! I see you’ve taken notice of how some dimensions appear to be from a different time period. As you know, we are in the 21st human century, which means that most dimensions should be “up-to-date” and modernized, but that’s not always the case!

Some dimensions appear to be “stuck in time” in which they look to be a bit antique and retro looking! But don’t blame us dream world citizens for that, it’s human memory and nostalgia that’s at work! You see, while dimensions can be modern, some remain stuck in their time period because humans most remember best that dimension from that specific time period. For example, if a majority of humans who lived in the 80s time period are still around and still vividly remember a specific memory, that dimension will end up looking very retro and from that time period. The 80s were definitely a fun time!

Let’s think of it like this: time may go on, but sometimes humans hold on to memories of times when they were happy, or so I’ve heard Sir Timely explain it that way. Take it from me, dimensions stuck in time feel very safe, but also a little sad- in a nostalgic way.

Even so, if enough time passes, that dimension has a 50-50 shot to become lost or become modernized. A good example is the Diner dimension; enough time has passed that humans from that time period no longer remember the Diner very well enough that the rest of us in the dream world can remember where it is. Another good example is the Hallway dimension; there have been countless variations of that dimension in the past, but the most modern one is the one you’re likely to visit today, as it’s been modernized due to human memory.

On the same topic, sometimes people who live in antique, retro dimensions end up stuck in time too! Their vocabulary, attire, behavior, and way of communication may seem a bit off to the rest of us who have caught up with the time, but they either choose to preserve that time period by behaving like they did during that time, or perhaps they have no idea that it’s not that year anymore. I mean, you can lose track of time in some dimensions…an hour can turn into a year without you even knowing…kind of scary!

Time is a very strange construct, even in the dream world. I hope this answers your question!
