RESCUE OPS RECRUIT UNIT TO BE SWORN IN SOON

By: Arial

The DPF’s rescue operations team’s recruit unit is expected to officially be sworn in as part of the team by the end of the month, according to a memo sent out.

According to Leader Finnegan, the recruit unit is made up of those who are training to become members of the team- students, essentially- and said students have made progress within the last six months or so which means they are on track to “graduate” and be sworn in very soon.

“Our recruits have been studying and working pretty hard through their training!” Leader Finnegan tells me, “I’ve been getting their progress reports these past few months and it looks like they’re just about ready to be sworn in. Of course, I’ll have to be there to swear them in, along with their fellow instructors!”

The recruit unit is made up of four instructors and one head instructor who all help out with the recruit’s training and lessons.

“Think of these instructors as their teachers or perhaps coaches,” Finnegan says, “Their job is to provide instruction on different emergency scenarios and help prepare our recruits for just about anything ranging from fire to medical to disasters to even finding a lost pet!”

When asked about the instructors, Finnegan says that the recruits are put into class groups and each instructor gets their own students, including the head instructor.

“So we have class A, B, C, D, and E. You have Olivia who’s with class E, Léo with class D, Lysander with class C, Homare with class B, and finally we have class A who’s led by the recruit unit’s head instructor: Eliazar~!” Finnegan states, “While instructors teach in their own style, lesson plans are typically the same, though they can tweak certain parts as they see fit, but should all move at the same pace week by week.”

The head instructor typically picks out the lesson plans for the week and discusses it with the other instructors, but Finnegan says sometimes he has to jump in and adjust certain parts of the plans.

“Eli is in charge of picking out what to do for the week and essentially, in charge of keeping track of everyone’s progress- not just his own class. However, I can also override whatever he has planned if I think the recruit unit should go back and rework on a lesson they may have had trouble with or if I think they need more practice with,” Finnegan explains, “This rarely happens though. I think Eli is pretty smart to know what’s going on. He’s a very good man in what he does~”

Finnegan says Eliazar is hard working and dedicated to his job and that the recruit unit has much respect for him.

“The recruit unit often just calls him ‘coach’ and they ask for his advice on how to improve. Eli is a very good team member! He did finish second just behind me when we both tried out at the same time back then,” Finnegan states, “He’s hard working and I do sometimes consider him to be second in charge since I communicate with him the most and he’s just on my level in terms of skill and experience! He was the Acting Leader for a while a few months ago…hehe, Eli is very interesting~”

The classes of the recruit unit are expected to be sworn in by the end of month, should Eliazar and Finnegan not be caught up in external affairs.

“Yes, as long as Eli and I are available by around March 30 or so, then the recruits will officially be sworn in and be a part of our team officially!” Finn says, “I don’t think we’ll have any emergencies to deal with by then, so expect a ceremony soon!”

A TOUR THROUGH THE DREAM WORLD

By: DGTA

Hello avid Tribune readers! The Dimension Guided Tour Association is back again with another article detailing some interesting areas in the dream world you should visit! While there aren’t any dimensions currently decorated for any big holiday, the dream world is still a very vast place with much to look forward to! Here, we list five areas we think you should check out- even if you’ve already been there or not!

The Game: Bored out of your mind? Need to have a little fun in your life? The Game dimension offers hours of endless and clueless fun for you, family, or friends! Roll the dice, spin the clock, move your piece according to the dice, advance to the next room! Sure, this game literally has no instructions or rules- it doesn’t even make sense!- but it’ll leave you playing and wondering how to play for hours on end! Loads of fun! Guaranteed!

The Cafe: This dimension popped up within the last decade or so, as it comes from memories associated with a popular online game that humans in the real world played! You can stop by and grab yourself a coffee with a croissant and take in the aroma of the atmosphere! You could also head upstairs to the book room where it’s most peaceful and quiet to get some studying or work done. This dimension brings the good vibes!

The Pool: With spring arriving, temperatures are steadily climbing up through the next few weeks. You can always visit the Pool to refresh yourself and have a splash! You can pick a pool of your liking, though we recommend the lily pad pool- it’s the most relaxing one of them all! Just be sure to bring a towel with you, and watch your step- it’s slippery!

The Party: Surprise! I get you thought we wouldn’t include this dimension! Whether it’s your birthday, someone else’s birthday, or you have another reason to get down and party, you can always stop by this dimension where it’s always party time! We have multiple party rooms to choose from in this dimension, so don’t be afraid to reserve your room ahead of time! You can also stop by, unless there is a party already being reserved here. Woohoo! Party!

The Circus: Step right up! When you enter the Circus tent, you’ll be greeted by a spectacular show of wonder and amazement! Watch as trained performers do tricks, acts, dances, and other silly performances! Their shows are performed every day so be sure to look up their schedule to see a time that you can come visit! Of course, there are clowns, so if you are afraid of them, you may want to step back a bit from this dimension. Though, who’s afraid of clowns nowadays? Oh, I know a few…

Q/A: Ask Nate

Dear Nate, is there anything else you do outside of the DPF?

By: Otto Hobbs

Hi Otto! There are in fact a few hobbies I do outside of the DPF work, however, there is one in particular I enjoy doing!

Most people don’t know this, unless you’re close to me, but I do babysit for a friend of mine! You might know about Eliazar- he’s the head instructor of the DPF’s rescue operations team. You might not know that he has a son as well! Because Eliazar’s schedule lets him off work late, his son needs to be picked up from school and I’m the one in charge of that!

Benji, his son’s nickname, is very nice! I often look after him for about three hours after school and I take him to my apartment where we hang out! I might cook him something, or help him with homework, or sometimes we might do something fun! Benji has grown to know me well and he’s a very sweet kid. Eliazar would come to pick him up later and sometimes he’s already asleep! Eliazar always pays me of course, though I understand he works pretty hard at the rescue operations team!

Occasionally, he does have to stay over time at work, so I’m with Benji for a bit longer- not that that’s a problem! There are also occasions where he asks me to babysit Benji for a whole day, depending on school or personal factors. I’ve grown to enjoy this side job and although Eliazar and I are not necessarily close, he does put a lot of trust in me! I met him in the DPF’s cafeteria one day after I was speaking with Finn about an issue and from there we got to know each other more. Finn is one of my close friends so I guess Eliazar trusted me from there…the cafeteria is fun stuff!

I bet you didn’t think a little dream demon like me could babysit, right? I might be small, but I am definitely old enough for this job! Though, it’s not like I’d babysit other kids. I think one is enough for me to handle, and even so, Benji is not a lot of work! He’s very kind and likes to ask questions about me, his dad, and about Finn too. I think the little guy has a bright future and I can’t wait to see how he grows up! Babysitting can be fun…I just hope Eliazar doesn’t forget one day to pick him up!

Dear Nate, how much more advanced is the dream world than the real world?

By: Raul Brayker

Hi Pheu! If there’s one thing about the dream world that is different from the real world is that we are a bit more advanced than they are! However, it depends on what field we’re talking about, because not everything at every level is necessarily advanced.

Let’s start off with medicine. As you may have already known, the dream world has lots of different kinds of medicines that humans in the real world just don’t have access to for various reasons. We have potions, elixirs, pills, syrups and other medicines that help for different things. Some of them help us look younger, some help us feel better from certain diseases, some even cure things that humans can’t! As for healthcare, we’re also pretty much more advanced than humans for it. It’s kind of rare for people to stay ill for a long period of time…thank goodness for dream world medicine!

What about technology? Well, in terms of technology, we’re not that far off from humans. Actually, lots of us in the dream world tend to prefer more “retro” technology over modern technology. We like using vinyls, analog clocks, analog televisions, and those antique radios, but there’s still people out there who like using flat-screen televisions, digital clocks, and modern stereos! We don’t necessarily have any “futuristic” machines, however, I guess some areas do, like the sorting machine in the DPDS, or the replication machine used to replicate human material like CDs and movies. Overall, we’re not necessarily more advanced in technology than humans, although we have the knowledge and power to become so. I guess people like feeling more retro than modern, you know?

And what about infrastructure? It’s about the same as the real world, but some can argue that it’s better than the real world. Our roads are fine and kept up to date in most spots across the dream world, we have telephone lines to reach some of the isolated areas, we have Wi-Fi and internet running in most areas now too. Our buildings are routinely inspected…hmm, but nothing necessarily “advanced”...we just often clean up and make sure things are running smoothly!

That being said, the dream world does have its wins over some parts in comparison to the real world, but ultimately, I can’t speak for humans because I’ve never been to the real world to see for myself! I’m just glad we have more creative freedoms down here that allow us to thrive and prosper. If you ever visit the real world, feel free to send little dream demon Nate a postcard!
