POWER COMPANY TO INSPECT ENERGY GRIDS

By: Oswald

The Dimension Power and Energy Company, best known as DPEC, has announced that they will be inspecting energy grids across the dream world in the following week or so.

DPEC Chief Lumière announced this on Tuesday following recent weather events. He cites the month-long rain event, as well as the January snow storm for the decision to conduct these inspections.

Although there were no widespread power outages during January’s storm nor during the spring rain storm, there were reports of spotty outages in some areas of the dream world. But weather conditions that persist for weeks can have some effects on the energy grid, especially power lines.

“Whenever weather events persist for longer than a week, the energy grid around the dream world can become faulty and weak in certain spots,” Chief Lumière explains, “If there’s wind, there might be power lines that are down or hanging pretty low. There can also be damage on the lines that carry the currents of energy within them, so we want to inspect them to see if they’re okay.”

Chief Lumière acknowledges that not all areas of the dream world will be inspected. He cites that outdoor dimensions will be given a higher priority, but some indoor dimensions where there are outages will also get an inspection.

“Our energy workers are out and about conducting inspections, so if you see them, steer clear,” he says, “They are working with live wires and power and we don’t want anyone in the public to get hurt.”

Chief Lumière says he’s proud of DPEC for helping keep the power on in most parts of the dream world, albeit most of the dream world being dark. He says there hasn’t been a major outage in his time as chief.

“There’s been outages here and there for sure. A full on blackout though? No, not at all! I doubt there will ever be a blackout in the dream world,” he tells me, “The dream world’s already dark in most areas as is, so a blackout would be very bad!”

DPEC expects these inspections to go on for two weeks or so. If you are experiencing a power outage, you can contact DPEC or visit their website to report it.

FAR EAST READS TO CLOSE SOON AT MALL DIMENSION

By: Arial

The popular manga store, Far East Reads, is expected to close at the Mall dimension next week.

For several years now, the store has been on the verge of closing down completely- though for various reasons. One reason is that the store has continuously received orders of an excessive amount of books from an anonymous buyer. The books are sold to the buyer, but it leaves the store with little supply of books.

The remaining books have increased in prices since they are becoming scarce in the store’s inventory. In simple economics terms, because the demand is high and the supply is low, the price is high. This has dissuaded customers from approaching the store and buying items in their catalog.

“I love reading manga, but the prices here are too high,” an avid bookworm tells me, “They don’t even have my favorite series in stock. I’d rather go take my money elsewhere.”

“The price of one manga in particular was like 300 morphs,” a former regular customer says, “That’s ridiculous. Ugh, who’s even placing these huge orders?!”

It seems that the store has finally reached the point of no return, as they announced that they will be officially closing their store at the Mall dimension.

“With a heavy heart to our customers, we are announcing that Far East Reads will be closing in the Mall dimension,” a newsletter sent to email addresses of customers read, “We have tried to maintain our store open as much as we could, but it is getting hard to keep up with large orders and the demands of our in-store customers.”

All manga and other merchandise in the store is currently on sale prior to closing as everything must go. Far East Reads will be closing next week in the Mall dimension after serving customers for nearly seven years.

Q/A: Ask Epsilon

Dear Epsilon, what kind of information about the human world is restricted?

By: Hess Tory

Hello Hess. In the dream world, there is a lot of interest in the human world- Reality- among the citizens who live here. Believe it or not, a lot of information about the real world is free for people to look up.

While books are the best and most “orthodox” way to get information about anything, the internet down in the dream world is what most people use nowadays to find stuff out. There is a special website dedicated to showcasing different things in the real world, ranging from different topics and subjects called “RealHistory”- history about the real world.

Think of it like an online dictionary: you look up a specific topic or subject and a page for it comes up, detailing what it is, facts, pictures, charts, graphics, etc. The website is very useful to see what the real world is like, and why the dream world exists because of it.

Despite many pages being open to the public, some of them are restricted. The Council restricts some information about the real world in an attempt to try and prohibit people from seeing very upsetting content. Let’s be real, there is a lot of evil in the real world, both now and then. Some pages about certain subjects and topics are locked to the general public so they do not stumble upon material that could be considered dark.

Is that to say that the Council is trying to portray the real world as a peaceful place just like the dream world? No, not at all. Everyone knows that there are bad things in the real world just like there are in the dream world. The Council just doesn’t want anyone here to view content that could make others upset or perhaps give people around here “ideas”...understand where I’m heading with this? Besides, any continuous attempts to view prohibited real world material may land you with a PIA violation from the DPF- or Peculiar Internet Activity- so don’t be too nosy.

Otherwise, a lot of information about the real world and humans is made readily available online. There are also books as well, although sadly, it appears people don’t seem too interested in books nowadays… I guess humans and dream world creatures have the same feeling towards books, but I still love them. Perhaps we’ll switch to books again someday.

Dear Epsilon, have dream world entities ever been trapped in the real world?

By:  Krip Tedd

Hello Krip. There are many stories of people from our world getting trapped in the human world, but they seem to live either in secret or among humans if they can’t come back.

Humans have dubbed them as “cryptids”- a creature that’s said to exist, but hasn’t been proven by humans. “Bigfoot”? Real. “Chupacabra” Real as well. “Mothman” Yep, real. That includes creatures like gnomes, fairies, werewolves, vampires, even the unicorn- although, unicorns have now mostly stayed in the dream world. All “cryptids” are real, and come from our world. Many reach the real world by accident and cannot escape, having to spend their lives in secret or in hiding. Such accidents have been dated back to thousands of years, and the earliest humans have documented such incidents of encountering them, but are often seen as “myths”, “legends”, “folklore”, or just “pseudoscience”.

Now, what about the “Veil?” The Veil is a phenomenon where humans can’t necessarily “see” dream world creatures by how they really look. A werewolf might look like a dog, or a dream demon might look like a human. However, this phenomenon is not entirely explained well. You see, it’s thought that some humans are immune to the Veil, and could explain why they see strange creatures. It’s also thought that video cameras can see past the Veil, and would explain why humans can capture them on film. However, the Veil might be the culprit as to why many sightings caught on film are in poor quality, as the Veil distorts it. The Veil is very strange, and still an unexplained phenomenon.

But back to the main topic, there have been and still are cases of people from our world getting trapped in the real world. The thing is, we don’t know until it’s too late to do anything about it. Sending teams into the real world can be dangerous, as once you’re in the real world, you have no communication access to the dream world to ask for help. It’s the reason why travelling to the real world is extremely prohibited. Dream world creatures may end up caught in human related events like conflict or illegal activities that could be life-threatening. Perhaps some of those “cryptids” are living better lives than some of us. I hope this explains your question.
