COLD TEMPERATURES PERSIST, NOTHING ABNORMAL

By: Roman

The latest weather bulletin is in…and it's going to stay cold.

That's according to the Dimension Weather Prediction Service. The weather agency issued a brief bulletin stating that the dream world will remain cold throughout the rest of the month. As winter peaks this month, it's normal to have cold temperatures across the general dream world.

“It's winter, of course, so it's not strange for it to be cold in January,” DWPS senior meteorologist Neige said, “Temperatures are actually looking pretty normal out there. Nothing too exaggerated nor underwhelming.”

The agency also stated that they are not anticipating any sort of “abnormal” weather event this month. In the past three years, there have been two freak snow storms and an unusual freezing weather event. However, that should be in the past.

“We're happy to report that we're not seeing anything in our near-term forecasts that suggest anything largely unusual,” Neige said, “Actually, we're not even really seeing snow in the forecast. While the leftover snow from November remains blanketed on the ground, it'll stay there so long as the temperatures are cold. We aren't anticipating widespread snow precipitation.”

Neige adds that November's freak unnatural weather event may have skewed the natural balance of weather in the dream world.

“It's very early to tell, but there's been an emerging hypothesis here at the DWPS that such was the scale of the winter weather event in November that it may have ‘messed up’ the natural balance of the seasons,” Neige explained, “Whether or not it's for the short-term or long-term, that's hard to say. We'll have to see what happens this year and whether things look normal or appear a bit off.”

In the meantime, the weather agency is asking the public to bundle up and to stay warm.

“In any case, if you're heading out, be sure to stay warm and bundle up. Cold temperatures are no joke,” Neige said, “Prolonged exposure to cold temperatures can still lead to things like frostbite and hypothermia. Put on some extra layers and stay warm. Enjoy this month as it looks peaceful. Definitely the first peaceful January in about three years.”

HOLIDAY SEASON OFFICIALLY COMES TO AN END

By: Oswald

The holiday season in the dream world has come to an end.

Within the last week, workers from the Pole were dispatched to help take down and remove holiday decorations that they themselves have put up around the dream world. Many dimensions and areas are looking back to normal following the season.

“Our workers were tremendous in getting the dream world dressed for the season,” Secretary of Christmas Affairs at the Pole, Rainier, told me, “But just as things come, they go. Our workers were also tremendous in getting things back to normal, and pretty quick too!”

Rainier says that donation stations and donation tubes were also picked up and stored away for the next holiday season.

“Ah yes, we also made sure to pick up all donation stations and tubes to ensure their safety,” he said, “We'll be storing them until next December when we may likely host the second Morphs for Change drive! I almost can't wait!”

The secretary says that the 2024 Christmas season was smooth and is very thankful for everyone's cooperation and generosity.

“We could've had a dark christmas- no literally so! Luckily, it was thanks to so many wonderful people that we got all of THAT under control,” the secretary stated, “Christmas was very enjoyable and festive in comparison to 2023 and 2022. I'm glad we've gotten things back to normal and on time!”

Rainier says that the Pole is always open to the public, as well as the HQ, for anyone with inquiries.

“The Pole dimension is always open to the Public! You can come on down and visit any time! Likewise, you can also visit the Pole HQ throughout the year if you have any inquiries. Besides, you'll have more luck booking an appointment in the off-season. It's Christmas here every day! If I don't see you all then, I'll see you all next Christmas!”

To book an appointment, you can visit the Pole HQ’s official website and request one there. The Pole is open to the public regardless for visits and tours.

How do chiefs at the DPF get appointed or removed?

By: Praw Zess

Hi Praw! Being a chief at an agency in the DPF is a pretty big job, especially if you're one of the famed “Big Six” chiefs! Yet, how exactly do they land the role and how do they depart it?

Per protocols, every chief should have three back-ups in the event that they are not able to fulfill their duty, which could vary from being sick, they retire, resign, pass away, or are fired. If the current chief is unable to, the title will land to the first back-up appointee they have listed.

The Director of the DPF has approved of these appointees, but the Council is the one who votes whether or not to let them take the seat. If not, it goes to the second back-up and so on. If neither of the three back-ups are chosen, then either the Director or the Council appoint someone!

Likewise, chiefs can also be removed by the Director or the Council, but this is truly rare. The Director has never personally been involved in removing chiefs, but the Council has. The last time the Council invoked their power to remove a chief was in 1832, well over a hundred years ago! Unless a current chief steps out of line for whatever reason, it's unlikely that the Council will personally fire any of them.

Being a chief of an agency gives you a lot of power within it! But that power should be used for the better and within line. It's a little scary to know that the Council is watching a chief's every move, but hey, no one's been fired in over a hundred years so who am I to worry! I don't think I'd ever want to be chief…it's too much responsibility! I already have respect for all of them…thank you guys for all the hard work!

Is the dream world categorized into different areas?

By: Dee Vyde

Hiya Dee! As big as the dream world is, you'd be surprised to know that it is indeed divided into different areas!

While it is hard to map out the entire dream world, what is observable and explorable has been mapped to the best of a cartographer’s ability. In fact, the dream world has been divided into different areas simply known as “regions” in the dream world. Within these regions are different dimensions and areas, which sometimes may overlap with one another.

Currently, there are 303 labeled regions within the dream world. Region 1 is the entirety of the District dimension- it's the biggest dimension after all! Some other examples include Region 25 being home to the Pole, Region 2 home to the Apartments, Region 99 being home to the Backrooms, and Region 250 being home to the Cafe!

These regions also help divide different agency offices across the dream world. For example, the postal service will distribute mail within a region from its regional post office and likewise with the weather service issuing forecast advisories from its regional office to that specific region. The same applies to DPF field offices like regional patrol stations and health laboratories. It just makes dispatching information and materials a bit easier!

Of course, these 303 regions are not the entire dream world. There is still much more to map out and explore, but it sure is a big world! At some point, we'll continue to add more regions and map out more far away areas. Lost dimensions are definitely going to stay lost for many, many years, but maybe one day we'll find a few and get them back on the map! I wonder what the first lost dimension to be found will be…

Upcoming Events:

NOW- Winter continues: The snow and ice won't melt, but that's because it's winter! The dream world is still looking like a winter wonderland, but at least it's not in a bad way!

NOW- Holiday season ends: Christmas is officially over in the dream world. It may be a bit depressing, but don't fret! It'll be Christmas all over again in a few months!

JANUARY 16- Final Christmas clean up: The final Christmas decorations will come down and that means Biz Mart will be back to normal. Or, was it ever really normal? It's always been a bit bizarre, after all.

JANUARY 23- Map retouching: Some areas around the map of the game will be retouched. What areas do you think will look a little different?

WINTER PERSISTS:  There's a winter ahead, if it's cold and wet, we're always warm here side by side...
