NEWS FLASH: Members of the press have been told to be on "standby" regarding an imminent announcement from the DIA chief of the DPF, according to anonymous sources in the agency.

DIA CHIEF TO MAKE ‘IMPORTANT’ ANNOUNCEMENT SOON

By: Porter

The chief of the Detective Investigation Agency is expected to make an “important” announcement soon.

That’s according to a rumor that has been circulating from sources close to the DPF that have told the Tribune about. This particular announcement is making headlines, because although announcements from DPF chiefs are not rare, this is significant considering recent events and the method of communication.

It’s not common to have sources in the DPF reach out to the media about potential breaking news. It’s typically the media having to reach out to the DPF to get information. For the sources to come to us, it’s a rather peculiar, but perhaps big move that could indicate a potentially news breaking story.

While the sources are anonymous, they are teasing an “important” announcement from chief Tsukanai Daiki. In fact, some sources are saying this announcement may be “extraordinary” and could cause a “shake up” within the DPF. So far, however, it is not clear what exactly this announcement is about. There is much speculation, but a general consensus suggests that this may be regarding Lucid- the long, runaway, and polarizing fugitive figure in the dream world.

“I think the chief is going to announce something about Lucid,” Wyatt, a resident from the Canadian enclave told me, “I feel as if he’s going to announce an update to his open investigation case.”

“Maybe the chief is going to reevaluate the charges that Lucid has and make some edits to them,” Hellenia, a resident in the rural dream world said to me, “The chief has the power to look at charges and do what he thinks is best.”

“I really hope the chief pardons Lucid! He deserves it for so long now!!” Almoral, a local necromancer, told me, “He’s got to pardon Lucid! It’s about time that he did! Lucid deserves to be free!”

It’s important to note that the office of the chief of the DIA does not actually have the power to pardon current or former criminals. The power of the pardon lies solely on the Council of the dream world. While chief Tsukanai cannot pardon Lucid, there are other powers he has in his role. The office of the chief of the DIA is able to re-evaluate charges in a case. Should chief Tsukanai re-evaluate charges, he could lessen the punishments associated with a case. In doing so, Lucid would still be a criminal and subject to arrest, but the punishments- if caught- would be less harsh.

The chief also has the power to drop charges against Lucid. When such a move is done, the chief can drop some of the charges while leaving others in place. Such a move could mean different outcomes. Lucid could be dropped from his charges about trespassing to the real world, but remain charged for evading persecution. It could also be vice-versa. The outcomes can be different, and it’s up to the chief to decide.

And of course, the chief has the power to completely drop him of all charges. In doing so, this would ultimately allow Lucid to no longer be subject to arrest and can essentially roam “freely” in the dream world without fear of the authorities. However, this would not clear his criminal record, and he would still be classified as such. The Council of the dream world would need to issue a pardon to completely absolve him of every and any crimes in his record.

Regardless of what the Council decides to do, it’s likely that Lucid’s fate will be the talk of the town in the coming weeks, perhaps months. The office of the chief of the DIA has yet to reply back to us, but an important announcement is imminent. Be sure to stick with the Tribune as this is a developing story.

RESIDENTS ENJOY SNOW AND COLD WEATHER

By: Oswald

Residents of the dream world are out and about enjoying the snow and cold weather this month.

January marks the peak of the winter season in the dream world. Granted, winter came early this season, as evidently seen with the events of last November. While winter persists, residents are finding themselves partaking in winter activities.

“We’re seeing a lot of sales for winter boots, hats, scarves, mittens, and other wintry apparel,” Patrell, a cashier at Wintry Goods in the rural dream world tells me, “We saw this immediately following the blackout and even so now. People are gearing up for winter weather.”

“Skiing is a fun activity in the winter,” Drew, an avid skier said to me, “Me and my buddies love skiing, but we also like snowboarding out here. Winter’s definitely my favorite season.”

“Nothing better than a good old fashioned snowball fight!” Rebekah, a local resident, told me, “It’s fun to just have a regular snowball fight with friends. Look at all of this snow! Francis gave us a lot of snow to play with! I know he’d hate to see us have fun.”

The Dimension Weather Prediction Service says that winter is expected to start winding down in the coming month, at least according to historical data.

“Winter starts to wind down around mid-February in a normal season,” senior meteorologist Cirrus told me, “At least, that’s what we’re thinking. It’s too early to determine if the season will end on time or earlier than normal as a result of winter storm Genesis from last November. For now, enjoy the snow while it lasts. It sure makes for a lot of fun snowball fights!”

Q/A: Ask Nate

Dear Nate, who’s the oldest person you know?

By: Elle Durrs

Hiya Elle! I know a lot of people from my time here in the dream world! Over the course of two thousand and five hundred plus years, I’ve met lots of faces and seen people come and go. I’m a pretty old dream demon! However, that’s nothing!

If you didn’t know, Rainier at the Pole is around 90 years old! That’s not really a lot if you put it into dream world perspective. My friends Epsilon and Dylan are in their 200’s, which is also not a lot! My friend Almoral is in his mid 300’s, which still isn’t a lot! Seems like anything below or in the 100’s is not a lot, but I know much older people!

Of course, there’s also Lucid. Lucid is older than me as he is past 5,500 years old. That is quite old! But is he the oldest person I know? Not even close! Chief Daiki is also a dream demon like Lucid and me. He’s older than Lucid actually! From what I recall, chief Daiki is around 6,800 years old. Dream demons in general can live up to thousands of years, so these numbers are nothing still!

The director of the DPF- my boss- Nikolaos Ferekides…boy, he’s much older than all of us…combined! I’m not sure of director Ferekides’ age, but considering he is one of the original big figures who helped bring stability to the dream world several millennia ago, you can assume he’s… old. Even so, is he the oldest person I know? Hmm… I don’t think so…

Perhaps the oldest person I know is Sir Timely! You see, Timely has been around for quite a long, long, long time- pun intended! It’s believed that Timely has been around since at least when time itself began ticking in the dream world. That is to say, Timely may have been born on the day the dream world was created! That is something quite crazy to think about. Timely’s age is also unknown as age is a topic they tend to scoot around. It’s always been a mystery, but Timely always says they’ve kept track of time for a long time, so who knows? Timely could be the oldest person I know!

These time and age questions can be quite surprising. Our own perspectives of time can be altered in the dream world as our aging process is compressed so we all live longer lives. If you think someone like Rainier is old, that may be your perspective, but the truth is that he is young whereas someone like me is ancient- in proper terms. Who’s the oldest person you know? If you say me, then I’m flattered to be that statistic! Just don’t make me feel older than I look… There are still some modern things I don’t really understand, hehe.

Dear Nate, do people believe in conspiracy theories in the dream world?

By: Wadder Deyhidin

Hiya Wadder! It feels like there’s a lot of things out there that we know about, but somehow still don’t. At least, that’s how some people think! Over the course of my life, I’ve heard a lot of strange theories about different things around the dream world. People like believing in wild things!

One infamous theory that I hear every now and then is the theory that the Council is not real! Apparently, some people believe that the Council was just fabricated by the DPF to have control over the dream world. That is to say, the real people ruling over the dream world are the DPF! It’s also said that the DPF is an arm to the Council and this only fuels that theory more. Is it true? No! The Council is very much real. Lucid has told me stories about them and I have no reason to believe he would be lying to me! Even moreso, it’s believed that Lucid’s infamous trial was all staged in a bizarre effort by the DPF to bring down Lucid in fear of his growing power and knowledge that could surpass us all! I don’t believe this either, as again, Lucid told me the details of the trial and I know for a fact that Director Ferekides really had great thoughts about Lucid! In a way, Lucid describes the director as a father figure to him. I doubt the DPF did this all for show!

Another theory I’ve heard is the true reason why people aren’t allowed to visit the real world. Everyone knows that visiting the real world is the highest rule in the dream world and is extremely illegal and prohibited. The real world is dangerous to dream world residents in the sense that humans could hurt them or perhaps they get themselves hurt if they venture up there. Also, you lose all communication to the dream world once you’re in the real world, so you’re in big trouble! So what’s the theory? It’s speculated that the real reason people can’t go to the real world is because there’s something up there that the Council is hiding and doesn’t want us to see. Could it be that humans actually get along with us? Technological advancements so incredible that we’re seen as far behind humans? Aliens?! Well, none of this is true. There is a very minute group of people who have access to the real world and have constantly denied those claims. Then again, what if they are lying…? No, I don’t think they are! It’s just another silly theory.

I don’t know if I believe in theories like that. Sure, they might be fun to think about, but you always have to look at the facts! Do you believe in any theories about the dream world? And just to let you know, I am very much real!
