NEWS FLASH: The Council orders DIA chief to reverse recent decision while stating that they will not be pardoning Lucid. The DPF remains silent following this very rare, public statement.

COUNCIL ISSUES RARE PUBLIC STATEMENT

By: Porter

Breaking news: the Council of the dream world has issued an extremely rare public statement.

Catching many residents off-guard, the Dimension Protection Force posted the public statement on social media platform LiminalSpaces late on Wednesday. The announcement was surprising, but as previously reported by the Tribune, there were rumors that the body was privately putting pressure on the DIA to reverse the decision of dropping Lucid’s charges.

We now know that this may be true.

The DPF posted the statement in which, while the Council understands the chief’s decision, stated that they “do not agree with the chief’s decision” because Lucid is allegedly still “pursuing dangerous activities against the general public and the dream world.” The claim doesn’t appear to have much to back it up, but it’s unclear how true it is as the Intelligence Affairs Agency has not confirmed nor denied it.

The Council also stated that Lucid would not be receiving a pardon. This goes against what the DIA chief Tsukanai Daiki asked for following his decision to drop Lucid’s charges. The Council explained that they asked the DIA chief to reimpose the same charges and that they looked “forward to seeing these charges be reimposed in the coming week.” The statement is then signed by all seven council-members.

With this public statement, the Council is letting the dream world know what they have been thinking in private over the past three weeks. Public statements are extremely and incredibly rare. For the grand majority of the time, the DPF is the one issuing statements to the general public on behalf of the agency and the Council.

While the Council has not done much else besides issue this statement, it’s unclear what will happen if their demands are not followed through at the DIA. With the statement ending with the threat of their demands to be met within the next week, the DIA and DPF will have to act- or not- within the next seven days.

DPF QUIET ON COUNCIL STATEMENT, DIA IS MIA

By: Arial

The Dimension Protection Force has remained quiet following the Council’s public statement.

The agency has not posted anything else on social media- or on their website- within the past 24 hours. The DPF typically posts various news and information on a daily basis on their website, but interestingly, their website has been quiet since the public statement. Not only that, but all of the “Big Six” main pages have also been quiet.

It’s abnormal for the DPF to be silent, but Council statements hold a lot of power- more than DPF statements. It’s likely that the director of the DPF may have imposed a temporary gag order on the DPF’s main pages, at least according to DPF analyst Charlotte Telara.

“The director may have told its most important branches, the ‘Big Six,’ to refrain from posting any additional information following the Council’s statement,” Charlotte explained, “This ‘gag order,’ at least the legal term, means that the director is halting information from being released to the public.”

Charlotte explains that such orders are not typically permanent and the DPF may resume posting information on a regular basis within the next few days.

“If there’s a freeze on information right now, it won’t be forever,” she explained, “I’d say we may be back to normal in about a few days, let’s say, 2-3 days.”

Likewise, the Detective Investigation Agency- the agency in the spotlight as of late- has also been quiet. When the Tribune reached out to the DIA, we did not receive any sort of comment. Its main page on the DPF website is also silent, and it’s unknown how the chief of the DIA will respond.

“Chief Tsukanai hasn’t responded to the Council’s statement and I’m not sure what could be going on behind the scenes,” Charlotte said, “There could be some private discussions going on to figure out what to do next. Although, they may only have from now until next week to do so because of the Council’s threat.”

Charlotte likens this situation to parenting.

“Think of it like this: the Council is the parent and the DPF is their kid. The Council scolding the DPF is like a parent scolding their kid. The DPF going quiet is like the kid is in time out,” she explained, “Once the kid figures out what they did wrong, then they’ll be up in no time again.”

It’s unclear what the DPF will do next.

“We’ll just have to wait and see,” Charlotte told me, “I hope it’s a good ending.”

Q/A: Ask Nate

Dear Nate, what is there to do at the Mall?

By: Shaw Ping

Hello Shaw! So you've heard of the Mall? It's a great place to shop at! There may be malls in the District, but The Mall is pretty great!

The Mall itself is actually several stories tall. The Mall has a total of 22 floors from the bottom to the top. Each floor consists of different kinds of stores to explore ranging from clothing to electronics to restaurants, and more! The third floor of the Mall is actually the food court! It’s exclusively just for restaurants and food as you won’t find anything else here like clothing or electronic stores.

The Mall actually doesn’t have a uniform architecture. Each floor has a different layout and look than the one before or after it. Human memory really shapes the different floors of the Mall so each floor looks different, but because they all carry the same “feeling,” they are all grouped into floors at the Mall!

I will say that the further you go up in the Mall, the less people you’ll see. I guess that’s because people don’t really like going up escalators or elevators to high floors just for one or two items that they could easily buy on a lower floor. It’s kind of competitive at the Mall as businesses try to rake in customers, but truthfully, those in the lower floors do better than those near the top. In fact, the last few floors are pretty dead in terms of foot traffic. It truly feels…what’s the word…like a strange nostalgic experience… It feels bizarre!

The Mall’s still a wonderful place to go visit if you wanna spend some time shopping or just want to distract yourself! I actually frequently go to the Mall to buy myself and my friends different things! If you ever have time, let me know and

I can give you a tour of the place! Yes, we’ll even go see those “dead” floors. I promise it’ll be fun!

Dear Nate, is it easy to get into the District?

By: Enn Trance

Hi Enn! I love receiving questions about the District because a lot of them are curious! Let me answer this one as well!

As you may already know, the District is the largest dimension of the dream world, and it’s no joke! While it is an artificial dimension- a dimension that wasn’t made naturally- it serves as a home to the grand majority of the dream world. You may have already heard that the District is divided into six wards with various enclaves in them and how there’s a big wall surrounding it, but getting into the District is not necessarily difficult, but there’s a few things to know!

First off, the District’s wall has a few checkpoint gates that allow access in or out of it. These checkpoint gates are managed by patrol officers of the Dimension Patrol Unit. When you arrive at one of these gates, you will be asked to provide some form of identification. Remember, you should always carry some form of identification when traveling in the dream world…this is important! Once they verify you, you will be able to get out or into the District! If you do not have identification on you, you will be asked to step aside and wait for additional assistance before entering. Make sure you have your I.D. ready!

Second, you need to know where you want to enter before you step in. The District is divided into different wards and you want to be sure you’re not going into a ward you don’t need to be in! There are signs outside each gate that tell you what area you’re about to enter. Each ward has a checkpoint gate, but not all enclaves have one. Some more notable gates include entries into the U.S. enclave, the Chinese enclave, the Egyptian enclave, the French enclave, and more!

Third, you may need to prepare to be inspected. Keep in mind that when you present your I.D., the patrol officer will scan it into their system and if something comes up on your record that catches the eye of the officer, you may be asked to be inspected. The inspections are quick and involve searches through your belongings to make sure you aren’t participating in any illegal activity prior to entering the District. Don’t stress this part out though! Inspections are rare and only occur to those with a criminal record. If you don’t have a criminal record, you’ll be fine!

Getting into the District is not hard, but there are definitely some things to remember. I always have to pass through a gate when coming from the rural dream world to go home! The District is not a bad place to live and if you ever want to, I can give you a tour someday. My treat!
