FOREST AND PARKS SERVICE AIMS TO PROMOTE WILDERNESS THIS MONTH

 With summer underway, many dream world residents are looking to take a vacation this month. As a result, the Dimension Forest and Parks Service is aiming to promote the outdoors as a form of leisure.

According to the DFPS, recent visits to local parks and forests during the summer have remained steady. While they don't expect a dramatic increase or decrease in visits this season, they are going to try to push trips to the wilderness as a form of leisure and vacation.

"When you think of vacation, you usually think of places like a beach, a pool, or an amusement park," DFPS forest ranger Kodia says, "Most people don't really think about going camping, hiking, or exploring the vast forests!"

Kodia says the agency wants to change the perception that people have about going out and exploring the wilderness which many see as "dull."

"A lot of people say that camping isn't really exciting nor is going on a hike," she tells me, "Well I think the opposite! Exploring the woods is a great pass time and it helps clear your mind! There's a lot to do out here! I think it's fun!"

In a recent survey conducted by the Academy, 62 percent of students there say that camping isn't the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about summer vacation. In that same survey, only 31 percent say they would consider going camping as a form of leisure in the summer season.

"That's why we want to change things! The DFPS is currently thinking of a plan to push visits to our great wilderness. You might think the vast woods of the dream world are boring or maybe even spooky," Kodia says, "But once you spend a lot of time out here, the trees become your friends. I would love to see more people come out here!"

Kodia says that the DFPS will announce plans in this effort to attract visitors to its parks and forests. She reminds the public that parks and forests are always open- weather permitting.

"Our parks and forests are always open to come visit!" she tells me, "Of course, as long as the weather is fine. I hope this plan works because I can't wait to see all of you come on down!"

DPF ACKNOWLEDGES UNUSUAL PERIOD OF ‘CALM’

An internal memo obtained exclusively by the Subliminal Tribune shows that the Dimension Protection Force is acknowledging what other dream world residents have been echoing in recent weeks.

According to the memo, the DPF is aware that the dream world has been experiencing an “unusual”  period of  “calm” in recent months. For the past two years, it seemed like every month something quite extraordinary and unusual had taken place. However, it’s been a while since anything of such sorts has occurred.

To recap, the DPF is currently looking for the most wanted fugitive in the dream world: Francis Robert P. Jackson- a human from the real world who has been causing strange and unusual anomalies that have been disrupting dream worldian society since at least 2022. Francis has caused a wide array of problems including tampering with machines, manipulating the weather, committing theft of books, creating and distributing a biological weapon, summoning the spirits of the deceased, draining the Christmas spirit, stealing and tampering with magic, opening unauthorised portals to other worlds- the list goes on.

While he remains on the loose, anomalies would occur about every other month or so. Yet, the last recorded anomaly attributed to him was this past March. Since then, it’s been three full months since the last recorded anomaly. The DPF acknowledges this is, ironically, unusual.

“Yes, it’s quite unusual that nothing unusual has happened since the near-collision back in March,” Intelligence Affairs Agency chief Kamaria said in a press conference, “Truthfully, we have obtained some intelligence about the anomalies, but Francis’ whereabouts remain unknown at this time. We’re not sure why he hasn’t done anything as of late.”

Forensics unit chief Vivienne says that her agency is in possession of Francis’ DNA samples and other genetic material.

“Yes! We are in possession of his DNA samples and have it locked under strict lock and key,” she explained in the same press conference, “For criminals like him, these samples are quite secure. We’ve put them in the database system for record keeping. Thank goodness we have those DNA samples of his!”

Patrol unit chief Matias says that while the number of patrol officers dispatched has been increased since late 2023, there have been no sightings of Francis by any officer.

“As hardworking as our patrol officers have been, none have been able to sight Francis in the dream world,” he said, “There have been no sightings in the District nor in the rural dream world. They’ll still be on the lookout.”

Detective agency chief Daiki says that the investigation into Francis continues, albeit little to no leads.

"The investigation will persist even if there are little leads to work with," the DIA chief explained, "We will keep the public updated."

Dear Nate, when dream world citizens fall asleep, where do they go?

Hi B! That’s actually a very interesting question to ask me! Well, I’m a little embarrassed actually. Dream demons don’t sleep! I actually don’t know what it’s like to “sleep” as a dream demon, but I know Lucid has told me some stuff about dreaming in the dream world, based on research and books he’s read. I’ll explain to you what he’s told me.

As you know, the dream world exists because it is a big mashup of human memories, dreams, recollections, nostalgia, etc. that came together to form this big world! Yet, for those of us down here that can actually go to sleep, we are able to experience dreams ourselves! Dreams can consist of different scenarios, just like human dreams, but that begs the questions: Where do we go when we all fall asleep and is there another “alternate” dream world made from the dream world’s citizens' memories and dreams?

Lucid explains that the overall consensus for this is not necessarily clear. There are many hypotheses and theories to this, but Lucid has a theory that there may be an “alternate” dream world to ours that consists of our own dreams and memories. Think, it’s a dream world of the dream world, and that’s kind of hard to wrap your head around! Alternate realities do exist, Lucid figured that out centuries ago, but as for a dream world of the dream world, well that’s a bit hard to figure out.

If this was the case, there are no official reports of people actually discovering this hidden world. In a sense, understanding how dreams work in the dream world is the same as humans trying to understand the science of dreams in the real world. Perhaps this might be something we will never get to truly understand, no matter how advanced we get with our technology and understanding of science- not even Lucid knows for sure!

Dreaming when you go to sleep sounds interesting…what’s that like? I also wonder what kind of dream I’d have if I could sleep. Maybe getting promoted in ranking? Or perhaps meeting my favorite celebrity? Hmm…the possibilities may be endless!

Dear Nate, what types of weather phenomena can we see in the dream world?

Hello Atmos! Believe it or not, we do have different types of weather in the dream world, but most are quite rare to experience! 

At the very basic, the two most common types of precipitation we are likely to experience are rain and snow. Rain and snow come in four types of classification: light, moderate, heavy, and storm. Under the storm category, it would be a thunderstorm for rain and blizzard for snow. 

The Dimension Weather Prediction Service works every day to help determine the weather conditions for any dimension, and issue predictions for changing conditions. Severe weather is also possible, but it is very rare. Cyclones can be felt in the Beach dimension during some summer months, tornadoes can form in the Field dimension during spring months, and blizzards are possible in the Arctic dimension in the winter months. Should such an event occur, the DWPS issues advisories and the DPF temporarily closes said dimension until the threat is over.

There are other types of weather you might encounter in the dream world ranging from fog to heatwaves to wind to freezing rain. Non-weather events can also occur such as dreamquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, etc., and these are also monitored by the DWPS. You can also call their office to report any type of weather phenomena you encounter, whether it be benign or severe. Your reports make a difference and help improve the organization in terms of monitoring and making predictions! 

Weather in the dream world can be so fascinating! It’s something not many take into account when travelling across dimensions, but it’s very interesting to learn about. One other thing to note is that their forecasts are measured in celsius, with very small pockets of fahrenheit in some dimensions. There’s so much more I can go on about this, but I would rather leave it to the brilliant weather people!
