EXTRA EXTRA: THIRD TIME’S THE CHARM
By: Porter
Hello Tribune readers! This is a special edition of the newspaper as we’re going a bit off script and breaking the fourth wall to celebrate the third anniversary party!
It has been three years now since the story began and there have been a lot of things since 2021! Just two years ago, we had an entire adventure inside of a book filled with fairy tales, nursery rhymes, and other childhood stories. Yet, the stories themselves were pretty wacky. It’s a good thing that we got all of that under control! Thus concluded the first year of the story.
Last year, we had to go inside another book, except we didn’t really have a choice this time. In this world, citizens are always under surveillance and the truth isn’t always what it seems. Books are also burned and destroyed here, and our books from the dream world were being stolen and taken here! Luckily, we managed to stop this plan and get the books back, but it was pretty scary!
Now that we’re finishing up the third year, it looks like we won’t be heading into a book for once! This year, the third year will wrap up by taking a vacation into the wilderness…sort of! It’s a turn around from saving Wonderland and escaping the world of Big Brother. Nothing like taking a break from saving the dream world for once and spending the third anniversary out hiking and camping!
It was a turning point last year when Francis officially became the most wanted criminal in the dream world- a title that Lucid held for nearly 86 years! Everything in the story shifted from “who’s causing the anomalies?” to “how do we stop him?”
In that time, it’s been tough! Francis is one sneaky individual who has yet to be caught and arrested. However, he hasn’t seemed to be up to no good in a while now. Who knows…maybe he gave up!
We will soon enter the fourth year of the story. New characters, stories, and events await us in the fourth year, but for now, we sit back and take it easy. It’s been a fun three years everyone! Happy third anniversary, Biz Mart!
SECTION ABRUPTLY CLOSES DUE TO OUTAGE
By: Roman
The Dimension Power and Energy Company made an announcement on the social media website Liminal Spaces yesterday that seemed rather abrupt.
According to the announcement, DPEC stated that a power outage has affected the Section dimension. Because of this, the dimension has been temporarily closed until the company fixes the problem.
DPEC stated that the cause of the outage is unknown, but they are currently working on resolving the issue.
“We are aware of an issue affecting power in the Section dimension of unknown origin,” a DPEC spokesperson said, “We are currently investigating the cause and are working to restore power in the dimension.”
The power company also stated that the outage itself is limited only to a portion of the dimension and is not affecting surrounding dimensions or areas.
“The outage is only affecting a, uh, section of the Section,” the spokesperson said, “Nearby dimensions and areas are fine. It's only the Section that's affected at this time.”
Interestingly, access to the Section from the Backrooms is closed off personally by chief patrol officer Matías of the DPF’s Dimension Patrol Unit.
“This dimension is closed off to the public. I'm here to personally redirect any foot traffic elsewhere,” the chief told me when I approached the portal, “Sorry, you'll have to find another way around. Nothing to see here.”
When asked if there was really a power outage, the chief referred me to DPEC.
“I'm here enforcing the order of temporarily closing this dimension to public access. Only maintenance workers are allowed in. For any other questions, please refer to DPEC’s announcement or personally ask them,” the chief told me.
DPEC expects the dimension to reopen soon and power to be restored swiftly.
“It may take a few days while we investigate and then restore power. We apologize for any inconvenience,” the official DPEC statement concluded.

Q/A: Ask the developer
Dear Adri, what was the hardest event you did this past year?
By: Diffy Cuhlt
Hello Diffy! I think the most difficult event I had to do in the past year was the 2023 Halloween Party. Granted, the event itself is lengthy and there's a lot of areas I had to build. What made it uniquely hard was that the event had to be slightly rewritten in terms of the story because a script vital to the quest had broken so I had to improvise and find a new mechanic to use.
Originally, we were going to have to look for pumpkins that Francis had stolen for his plan and place them back on their pedestals on fountains in the Quartier Fantôme. Unfortunately, an update caused the mechanic involved to break and I couldn't fix it in time as I was already behind schedule. It was a mess!
I still think the event went great even with the slightly rewritten story. I think it was popular among players as it got voted to return for this year's anniversary. It's funny that the Halloween Party is always voted to return for an anniversary. I guess it's a pretty popular event!
Dear Adri, so where is Francis?
By: Wehris He
Hi Wehris! Well that's for me to know and for you to wonder about. Francis has been MIA since March, but the last time we physically saw him was during the Pizza Party last November. Strange, I almost miss seeing him.
Dear Adri, which character's design do you like the most?
By: Dee Zine
Hello Dee! That's a tough question. There are a few characters in particular who's design I really liked- mostly because I had fun making them. For example, Vivienne’s design actually surprised me with how good it came out! I really felt like she had to have some sort of French inspired outfit, and she came out good!
There's also Almoral- who is actually one of my first characters to be introduced in the game all the way back in 2021. Interestingly, his design has held up pretty well in my eyes and I haven't really touched his outfit besides giving him a new cape and eye patch. He looks really cool!
One other character's design I like a lot is Finnegan's. I decided to have him look like a cool aviator with his bomber jacket, but it's his freckles and different colored eyes that I like a lot! His outfit itself is also good looking and not too over the top. He's an overall great guy!
Hmm, I think I'd have to say Almoral! Being one of the first few characters released in the story, his design has held up well to me and there isn't much to it I would change. Other older characters bug me with some of the design choices that may get revamped soon, but Almoral's is a keeper! I just know he'd be happy to know I think he's my favorite design.
Dear Adri, what can we expect in the coming months?
By: Lou King Ahead
Hello Lou! I know you may be curious to know what lies ahead in the near future, but that involves spoiling some big, big information.
I can say that in September, Cal’s maze of corn will be returning. It can't be autumn if his maze isn't explorable. It's the first event outside of the Beta Party in 2021 that took place so it's now a recurring party each year.
In October, surprise surprise- the Halloween Party will return. I mean, this was obvious considering it's a pretty big and popular holiday. I won't spoil the plot for this year's party, however. Or…did I already spoil it in a previous edition of the newspaper?
Finally in December, we can expect the Holiday Party to drop. We'll be getting to visit the Pole again and see what Rainier is up to during this year's holiday season. I mean, hopefully things this year are okay, but then again…maybe not?
I hope you stick around for the months to come! There will be a lot to explore, characters to chat with, and items to earn. And yes, I'm aware I left out November. You'll just have to stick around to see what happens. (;
