FAREWELL TO THE OLD YEAR, NEW YEAR AROUND THE CORNER
By: Porter
The dream world is getting ready to bid goodbye to 2021 and welcome in 2022.
Some individuals are a bit sad to see the old year come to a close, saying they wished they could’ve done more this year. “Oh! I didn’t get three of my resolutions done this year! Next year for sure, and it will be a jolly good show!” said Telly.
“I’m sad that I couldn’t find Lucid this year!” Almoral told us, “I keep thinking he’ll come back the following year, but he never does. Maybe in 2022?! Hahahaha, yes??”
Other individuals are glad to see 2021 ending, saying it wasn’t the best. “Ugh, they kicked me out of my favorite club!” said an angry wolf, “Just did it nowhere without warning too. No one’s done anything to help me out with this. I hope next year will be better!”
“My family didn’t come visit me for the holidays nor did they remember to visit me on my birthday. Also, I couldn’t go visit my best friend this year…due to reasons,” Epsilon said, “I guess next year will be better.”
The observation of the new year falls a week after Christmas, so many dimensions do not experience much changes as a result. However, foot traffic tends to pick up in some dimensions such as the District, Hill, Square, and Skyscraper dimension to observe the new year in different festivities. The most visited of these dimensions is the Square, which receives the most foot traffic on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
“That dimension can get pretty wild during New Year’s!” Nate told us, “Even I don’t go there for New Year’s…it’s too much for a little dream demon like me to handle!”
However you feel about 2021 or wherever you’ll go to celebrate the beginning of 2022, we here at the Subliminal Tribune wish you all a very healthy and happy new year! Cheers!
UNDERSTANDING TIME IN THE DREAM WORLD
By: Nate
Hiya everyone! Nate from the DPF here with an article about time in the dream world! The dream world’s physics and laws are much different than the real world’s own. Time behaves strangely in the dream world, we all know this. Yet, there is a universal time set that determines the overall date, and in some sense, time of day for some dimensions as well.
Time in the dream world has been recorded since humans first began to recollect memories and dreams. Sir Timely of the Time and Clock dimensions has been recording time for hundreds of thousands of years now. He is quite ancient, much more than me or Lucid! Still, he is very kind to take time out of his day to explain the time and date system for the dream world.
“You see, the time and date in the dream world used to be quite confusing,” Timely explains, “It wasn’t until humans devised their own system of time and date that we could start getting an idea of how we could make our own universal system.”
Timely explains that the dream world adopted a universal time and date system in modern years. “The dream world operates under the real world’s Coordinated Universal Time, which is halfway between all of their own zones of time. This lets us set up a universal date, like today is December 30 in the dream world, while also implementing a time that could be used everywhere.”
The system does have its drawbacks though, as Timely explains that some dimensions don’t behave correctly. “Some dimensions are stuck in time. Take the Chapel. It’s always dusk there! Yet, the days and weeks go on, but it is always sunny there. It is December 30 in the Chapel, but while it may be 12h 36m right now, it certainly doesn’t seem like noon there at all. Look at the Sidewalk! Pure nighttime at noon! The date makes sense, but the time? No sense!”
“And of course, some dimensions operate under their own time, which is okay, but it just further confuses the rest of us. The Council does not allow any dimension to go against the date, though. Time…what a strange construct!”
I would like to thank Sir Timely for giving me the time to interview him and I hope this cleared up any questions about time in the dream world…or maybe not. Time is weird here. Then again, a lot of things are, I guess. Hm. Anyways! Now that that’s out of the way, I hope you observe the changing of the year with new knowledge gained from this. Happy new year!
Q/A: Ask Lucid
Dear Lucid, do you have any pets?
By: M. Scott
Greetings M. I do not have pets. I do not like animals, or even kids, to be honest. They can be quite difficult to handle.
Dear Lucid, is there life after death?
By: Grimm R.
Hello Grimm. I am very smart, but even I do not know the answer to this. I would have to die in order to find out for myself, and frankly, it is a coin toss if I want to anyway.
Dear Lucid, what did you get for Christmas?
By: Noel Zee
Hello Noel. I am a wanted fugitive running from authorities. I am on the naughty list, therefore, I got nothing.
Dear Lucid, what is your username on Liminal?
By: Ifollo Bach
Greetings Ifollo. Is Liminal that one social media application? If it is, I am not on that application. I cannot use technology, much less go on Liminal.
Dear Lucid, what is 2 + 2?
By: Matt Tematiks
Hello Matt. The answer to that is five. Hahaha, no I am kidding. It is four, but I bet I scared you there for a second, did I not?
Hi Lucid! I cooked ya something special…won’t you please come back? It’s been years…
By: Almoral
You again? I will not go back. ……Well, I suppose it depends. What did you cook? I will see…
Dear Lucid, what period of time was your favorite in the dream world?
By: Anne Chient
Hello Anne. There are two particular periods that I enjoyed: the classical period and surrealist period. The classical period brought forth many new ideas of thought, while the surrealist period was quite vibrant and bizarre. Funny enough, it was during this period that my downfall began.
Dear Lucid, what color are your eyes?
By: Kor Nia
Greetings Kor. My eye color is silver. Did you know that they also glow in the dark? Someone told me once that my eyes remind him of the moon and it made me appreciate them more.
Dear Lucid, can you see into the future?
By: Ora Kull
Greetings Ora. I cannot see into the future, and I wish to not do so ever. I have many abilities, whether it be teleporting or freezing time altogether, but I cannot see into the future.
Happy birthday Lucid!! This might be silly to ask, but what is your birthday wish this year?
By: Nate
Ah Nate. You know, the older I get, the less I start wishing for things. There is not much to wish for, to be honest. However, I do wish that the world will be a little less unfair and unjust next year. Maybe that is too much to ask for, but I wish things to get better. For me, and for everyone else. But of course, spending time with you makes me forget the worst aspects of the world. I hope you have a wonderful new year. Please take care. I will see you soon again.
