WEATHER SERVICE EXPECTS PERSISTING WINTER WEATHER

By: Porter

For many dream world citizens, the holiday season is officially over, but it appears that some of it has come to stay- at least for now.

The Dimension Weather Prediction Service is continuing to reiterate that ongoing winter weather will persist up until the end of the month, and that includes snow and ice.

“We can’t stress this enough,” Cirrus, senior meteorologist at the DWPS tells me, “If you’re going to be traveling through the dream world, at least pay attention to the weather forecasts. Several dimensions will remain cold with snow through the end of the month. You’ll need to bundle up!”

The DWPS extended some active advisories, and issued new ones, ahead of freezing and wintry weather to come. The weather agency is still standing by its position that this strange January forecast is not abnormal.

“We still stand by the statement we made that this will be an average winter season in the dream world,” Cirrus explains, “Dimensions receiving snow and ice is not abnormal for this time of year. Look at the Desert, it can get wintry there! That’s still not abnormal if we’re going off of historical records.”

When I asked about when the dream world can expect to see these wintry changes, Cirrus explained that it could be as soon as next week.

“Next week for sure! Please heed the advisories we put out. We don’t do them to scare or annoy anyone, but out of safety and precaution! Don’t be surprised if some of them sound serious, I mean, we’re trying our best to keep everyone safe!” she explained to me.

Winter is coming. Travelers are asked to bundle up and seek warm shelter if they are traveling through wintry dimensions with ice and snow.

PLAZA EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE SNOWFALL

By: Arial

The Dimension Protection Force has issued a travel advisory for anyone passing through or heading to the Plaza dimension.

In recent weeks, the Plaza has been receiving snowfall precipitation since at least mid-December. However, snow there has been moderate to heavy at times, and has not stopped since. This is leading to a piling up of snow in the dimension, that is causing some issues.

“Yes, it seems like the snow is starting to pile up real good,” a DPF agent told me, “Almost a meter high…that’s crazy!”

“I came to see shrimp fry rice at Chinese Cuisine, not having snow up to my knees!” Almoral exclaimed, “This is why fall is better than winter…this sucks!”

The DPF explains that despite excessive snowfall, the dimension remains open, but they urge caution.

“Technically, we would rather wait for the DWPS to let us know if we should close down a dimension because of the weather,” the same agent explains, “Since we haven’t gotten a bulletin from them to recommend that, we’re keeping this dimension open.”

In order for the DPF to close a dimension due to severe weather, the DWPS would have to issue an “emergency” advisory for that dimension, but at the moment, there is no such advisory active.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if the snow continues to pile up in here and it becomes really inaccessible to the public. It’s coming down real good, that’s a little concerning, but maybe it won’t be too serious,” the agent told me.

Regardless, traveling through and to the Plaza should be done so with caution. Heavy snow can make visibility poor. Please bundle up if you are heading out to the Plaza, as it is recommended that only essential travel to and from here should be done. For more information, check with the DPF or DWPS for the latest on the Plaza’s status during this snowfall.

Q/A: Ask Nate

Dear Nate, when dream world citizens fall asleep, where do they go?
By: B. Eyelish

Hi B! That’s actually a very interesting question to ask me! Well, I’m a little embarrassed actually. Dream demons don’t sleep! I actually don’t know what it’s like to “sleep” as a dream demon, but I know Lucid has told me some stuff about dreaming in the dream world, based on research and books he’s read. I’ll explain to you what he’s told me.

As you know, the dream world exists because it is a big mashup of human memories, dreams, recollections, nostalgia, etc. that came together to form this big world! Yet, for those of us down here that can actually go to sleep, we are able to experience dreams ourselves! Dreams can consist of different scenarios, just like human dreams, but that begs the questions: Where do we go when we all fall asleep and is there another “alternate” dream world made from the dream world’s citizens' memories and dreams?

Lucid explains that the overall consensus for this is not necessarily clear. There are many hypotheses and theories to this, but Lucid has a theory that there may be an “alternate” dream world to ours that consists of our own dreams and memories. Think, it’s a dream world of the dream world, and that’s kind of hard to wrap your head around! Alternate realities do exist, Lucid figured that out centuries ago, but as for a dream world of the dream world, well that’s a bit hard to figure out.

If this was the case, there are no official reports of people actually discovering this hidden world. In a sense, understanding how dreams work in the dream world is the same as humans trying to understand the science of dreams in the real world. Perhaps this might be something we will never get to truly understand, no matter how advanced we get with our technology and understanding of science- not even Lucid knows for sure!

Dreaming when you go to sleep sounds interesting…what’s that like? I also wonder what kind of dream I’d have if I could sleep. Maybe getting promoted in ranking? Or perhaps meeting my favorite celebrity? Hmm, I guess maybe even getting to date L- AHH that’s not important! You didn’t hear anything! Maybe not sleeping is better for a dream demon like me…

Dear Nate, how come the dream world is so empty in many places?
By: Al Bimiself

Hello Al! I see you’ve been going around the dream world and asking yourself that question. The dream world is so vast and immense, and because of that, you’re likely to encounter areas with zero signs of life!

That’s kind of scary, I know. To be fair, large population centers are gathered in areas that are livable or have stuff to do. You’ll encounter life in the Apartments, District, Cafe, Mall, Square, Club, etc. These are places that people either live in or go out to entertain themselves!

Some dimensions are quite empty and void of life. The Desert? Yeah, that dimension is very empty. The Sidewalk? A quiet place. Certain levels of the Backrooms? Yes, that is a very scary ambience. These places don’t really have much to do there, so dream world citizens naturally don’t go there.

Unfortunately, because there are more “empty” dimensions than there are of dimensions with life and crowds, humans are more likely to stumble upon and wander aimlessly through these dimensions. The Backrooms is a very good example of this. Humans who noclip here have a bad time wandering around in such an environment. Imagine being a human in a dimension that is quiet, cold, dark, and a bit surreal…yeah, I wouldn’t be having a good time!

Still, you’ll encounter signs of life in any dimension if you’re lucky enough. Plus, you can always ask for directions for anyone. DPF agents are always scattered around the dream world, and our badges easily help anyone identify us as one. Just come up to us and we can help you out with whatever you need!

The dream world is quite vast, dark and empty in some places, but it’s not too bad! Sometimes quiet can be quite peaceful for our minds, but then again, sometimes quiet is violent. I guess it just depends what kind of person you are!

Upcoming Events:

Now- End of the holiday season: Bah humbug! I guess there’s always next year…

Now- Freezing weather continues: Some dimensions have stopped reporting snow, but it seems like some of them are still freezing over! Anyone got a sweater I could borrow?

January 20- Winter Party 2022: This might be the “coolest” party of the year. No? Is it too early to be telling bad puns this year?

January 20- Blizzard at the Mart: Yes, believe it or not, the real world also experiences winter weather, and sometimes a bit too extreme!
