ICE AND SNOW BAFFLE DREAM WORLD TRAVELERS

The Dimension Weather Prediction Service has issued several freezing and winter weather advisories. Some of these advisories caught some people off guard.
“It was definitely starting to get colder these last few days, but I didn’t think it would freeze,” a plant person told us, “Cold weather isn’t good for me, I need to bundle up!”
“It’s been cold here for the last month or so, nothing too surprising,” Epsilon says, “I like snow and seeing it snow in the Apartments is relaxing.”
Senior meteorologist at the DWPS, Cirrus, says that this was correctly predicted for several weeks now.
“We here at the DWPS have been stressing for weeks now that winter weather is coming to several more dimensions, and now they have come,” she explained, “Some dimensions are experiencing freezing or winter weather that are not normally prone to these types of weather conditions.”
When asked if this is considered abnormal, Cirrus said not quite.
“We understand that it seems strange for a dimension like the Island to be reporting snow, but truthfully, it still isn’t abnormal. Historically, the Island has seen snow at least once within the last ten years.”
Cirrus does state for people to heed advisories in the midst of this weather.
“Please heed advisories to stay out of harm’s way. We want everyone to enjoy the snow, but be safe out there obviously!” she told us.

DWPS NEAR CLOSE TO DECLARING EMERGENCY FOR PLAZA

The Plaza is continuing to report excessive amounts of snow piling up that is leading the head weather agency in the dream world to soon prompt an emergency advisory.
Should the DWPS prompt one, the Dimension Protection Force is on standby to temporarily shut down access to the dimension.
“We’re here and we’re ready,” said a DPF agent, “We’re just waiting for the ‘okay’ from the DWPS to do it.”
Some travelers in the Plaza are finding themselves having difficulty getting through the snow, and some are getting stuck.
“I came to buy a new chair from Funky Furniture, but I think it can wait. There’s too much snow!” a local artist said.
Several services have temporarily stopped operations in the Plaza due to the inclement weather, including the Dimension Postal Delivery Service.
“Yes, we can’t get to deliver mail to the Plaza because of all the snow,” Dylan, a local postal deliverer explained, “None of our postal delivery people can get through, so mail will be delayed. At least they won’t have to worry about getting bills in the mail for a while haha!”
While mail delivery is postponed in the Plaza, businesses there are about to close down in the meantime.
The DWPS does confirm that they were analyzing the data coming in and will make a decision soon if they will issue an emergency advisory.
“We are constantly monitoring the data coming in from the Plaza dimension to make a decision to close it down or not. We’ll notify the DPF if we come to a decision,” Cirrus explains.
Travel to the Plaza is extremely discouraged at this point in time. Please check in with the DWPS or DPF for more information about the escalating situation in this dimension.

Hello Moe! To understand weather in the dream world, our meteorologists have to understand how weather behaves in the real world. Once we understand and learn how the weather works up there, we then turn to our nostalgists who historically keep track of a lot of human memories, including weather related ones. Nostalgists have been keeping track of memories for many centuries now, and they help us determine what dimensions will get what weather in a certain month. It’s essentially an annual cycle of the same weather, but it doesn’t always behave the same! Sometimes we’ll get a heads up of any human memories that could alter the weather, and nostalgists are pretty good at keeping track of human memory and nostalgia in the real world.
Dear Cirrus, are all units measured the same?

Hello Mez! Not exactly. As stated above, sometimes we use fahrenheit when reporting temperatures for certain dimensions. On a general basis, we operate with the metric system when measuring things like rainfall, cloud height, storm surge, wind speed, etc. Again, unless otherwise stated, units will be metric.
Dear Cirrus, can others control the weather?

Hello Manny! Yes, some people can control the weather, although you’ll need a license for that. Even so, controlling the weather is typically centered on one dimension. It requires a lot of power to control the weather across multiple dimensions, and it is actually illegal to do this on a large scale. I’d have to refer you to the Department of Licensing in the DPF for more on this!
Dear Cirrus, what are the different types of advisories and what do they mean?

Hello Tay! There are three types of advisory bulletins that the DWPS can issue, and they are as follows:
Advisory: Issued for impending hazardous weather conditions. This means that whatever weather is being specified is going to occur soon, usually by the time frame provided. It gives you a “heads-up” for what’s to come!
Alert: Issued for current hazardous weather conditions. This means that whatever weather is being specified is currently happening, and you may have to take shelter. It lets you know that things may be pretty rough out there and to be careful! These are discontinued once the severe weather has passed.
Emergency: Issued for severe weather that has gone past our expectations. Essentially, if we are receiving data that is suggesting weather that is incredibly dangerous and/or putting others at extreme risk, this advisory gets issued. The DPF is notified to close down the dimension until the threat passes. This type is very rare to get issued, but it is extremely serious to heed instructions from the authorities when it is issued.
Dear Cirrus, is there severe weather in the dream world?

Hello Cy! Yes there is. Severe weather like cyclones, tornadoes, thunderstorms, etc. can happen. Although, most tend to happen in the same dimensions annually. You’ll likely hear about cyclones at the Beach during the summer-fall months, tornadoes in the Field during the spring months, etc. These are still quite hazardous and potentially life threatening, so they’re not to mess around with! We have trained storm chasers in the DWPS to go out and “chase” these types of weather events, and they are very experienced. It can seem like a fun job, but they go out of their way and risk themselves in the name of meteorology and science. Such dedicated people, I applaud and admire them!
