SPRING ON THE HORIZON AS TEMPERATURES SLOWLY CREEP UP

By: Arial

Winter is coming to a close for a majority of the dream world as temperatures are starting to climb up.

The spring season is observed annually in the dream world from March 1 until May 30, and it is typically accompanied by warmer temperatures, rain showers, and  thunderstorms which can occasionally turn severe.

Severe weather in the dream world can happen and most of it tends to occur in the spring. Thunderstorms have a chance to become severe which can lead to hail storms and tornadoes. Most tornadoes are short lived, but some can be long lived and violent.

"Tornadic activity is observed mostly in the spring, but it is limited to a few dimensions," Cirrus of the DWPS says, "The DWPS tracks severe thunderstorms and issues advisories depending on the severity of it, but few spawn tornadoes."

Besides the possibility of severe weather, temperatures gradually rise from cool to warm. These warmer temperatures often prompt trees and other plants to begin blooming, leading to beautiful sceneries across the dream world.

"Warmer temperatures allow vegetation to start blooming and growing, along with rain showers too," Cirrus says, "Spring is very lovely and colorful depending on the dimension you visit, but it may not be for everyone."

Spring also prompts allergies in many individuals, which can be bothersome and a nuisance.

"The DDCP also tracks seasonal allergies every year and spring is the season with the biggest spike of allergy reports out of the four of them," Ophelia of the DDCP says, "Seasonal allergies are not dangerous and not contagious, and you can easily get prescribed medication to deal with them. They are very annoying, but luckily not fatal."

With spring on the horizon, some dream world residents are looking forward to a new season.

"Spring will be like a breath of fresh air," a local artist says, "Winter was too blue for me, but spring is always a joy to observe."

"Spring is the best season ever! Have you ever walked out during the springtime?," a plant person says, "It's literally so beautiful. Nature is wonderful!"

"Spring is alright," Almoral, a local necromancer tells me, "But nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats autumn- the BEST and most AMAZING season of them all!"

The DWPS will release a detailed outlook at the beginning of spring as they usually do at the beginning of each meteorological season.

Winter's final day is February 28. For the latest weather forecasts, visit the DWPS' website or visit your nearest forecasting office.

A ONE ON ONE INTERVIEW WITH FINNEGAN

By: Porter

Hello avid Tribune readers!

I am here today with an exclusive one on one interview with the leader of the DPF'S rescue operations team: Finnegan R. Vulpes! He has been the leader of the team since 1989 and has much experience working in and for the team. I sat down with him and asked questions our readers had for him. Here is part of the interview below!

PORTER: Hello Finnegan! I am glad to be here with you today!

FINN: Please please, you can call me Finn! It's a pleasure to be here. I'm sure readers of this newspaper are curious to know more about me and the team.

PORTER: Yes, you are correct. We recently asked our readers to send in questions either for you or about the team. Now, the first question is about the team itself. What exactly makes up the rescue operations team?

FINN: The team is made up of different groups we call 'units.' We have a medical unit, a fire unit, a disaster unit, and a recruit unit. Depending on what emergency is at hand, a specific unit will be dispatched for it!

PORTER: So the medical unit is trained and responds to incidents where medical attention is needed, the fire unit is trained and responds to incidents where fire control is needed, but what about the disaster and recruit units?

FINN: First, multiple units can be dispatched at once if they are needed at the same time. Perhaps medical and fire if there are injuries at a burning building. Second, the fire unit can also respond to benign incidents like a cat stuck in a tree- so cute!

PORTER: Right! You have a point there.

FINN: Yes, but when it comes to the disaster unit, they typically respond to incidents involving natural disasters such as tornadoes, tropical cyclones, winter storms, avalanches, dreamquakes, tsunamis…you get the idea! Fire and medical units are usually also dispatched along with them.

PORTER: It's good that you guys can dispatch multiple units at once!

FINN: Yup! Lastly, the recruit unit is actually not necessarily dispatched because they are actually a group of students learning and training to become a full on team member. They go through different training to help prepare them for real emergencies. They have instructors there to help them along the way! Our head instructor helps out the most and he is quite the charm~

PORTER: So, I guess a question about the head leaders of each unit…do they get dispatched too?

FINN: Of course! The heads of each unit can be dispatched to emergencies- but they are usually only dispatched for very serious and dangerous situations. They are very trained and well equipped for experiences like these! I too get dispatched to serious events like this, and I guess you can say we like to show off…

PORTER: That’s so cool! You guys are like superheroes.

FINN: Yeah, you can say something like that. I love this job! It’s worth it to wake up each morning and see everyone on the team busy and ready for action. It’s especially worthwhile when I remember I can go check up on the recruit unit and get to see the head instructor there~

Q/A: Ask Nate

Dear Nate, are all places in the dream world directly connected to human memory and nostalgia ?

By: Ree Cawl

Hello Ree! You may have heard that the dream world is made up of various dimensions and areas that reflect a good chunk of human memory and nostalgia, but not so fast!

Much of the dream world is quite barren and void of any signs of life. It's either completely bare or just lots of trees like a giant never ending forest. That's not to say that this empty land can be an opportunity for others!

Sometimes, people may prop up their own businesses, homes, or other forms of buildings in the dream world. These buildings are not directly tied to human memory because someone from the dream world built them! Just as humans can buy up land to build their own property, we have the power to do that too- with a price, of course!

Cappy's Cat Cafe is the perfect example of this. The restaurant is located in the middle of nowhere and Cappy decided to choose this particular piece of land to build his cafe. It's a dream worldian building not made as a result of humans and there are plenty of other examples like this. Perhaps someone decides to build a house they can live in away from others, or maybe someone builds a restaurant, or what about a gas station in the middle of nowhere? That last one would be strange…considering we don't really use vehicles down here, but hey it's a possibility!

These places are not necessarily labeled as dimensions since either they are man-made or too small to even be considered a dimension. The Dimension Enforcement Agency, which goes out and inspects whether an area can/can still be classified as a dimension would have to approve or unapprove current or existing requests for such an area to be dubbed as a dimensions, and the chances of that are low if it's man made.

In any case, you may stumble upon these areas and wonder "is this a real human world location?" and chances are, it may not be! Someone from our own dream world bought land and constructed their own property! Trust me, if you've been around long enough, you'll know that there's a LOT of barren land and nothing but trees that stretch out long distances. There's bound to be an area that captures your eye and gives you a boost to build your own place!

Dear Nate, why are there no rules for visiting the Void?

By: Raul Brayker

Hi Raul! You’ve probably noticed that there are no rules prohibiting anyone from visiting the Void, which is different from the rule prohibiting anyone from visiting the real world. There’s a reason for that! To understand the Void, we have to look at the past.

At one point in ancient history, a curious group of individuals would work on strange sorts of magic that others found intriguing. These same individuals would eventually end up finding the Void, but it was by accident! Upon entering the Void, they noticed that their magic no longer worked, and they were met with pitch blackness- literal nothingness, hence the name given for this world, void of life, water, and resources.

Eventually, a group in the dream world noticed their absence and managed to save them from the Void. When they came back, they told their stories of their encounter in this new world and documented it for future generations to learn about. This is why nowadays, we know that the Void is literally a vast empty plane of complete nothingness. So why no rules?

That’s the reason why! Since the Void consists of practically nothing, it’s not really of any interest for anyone in the dream world to go visit it. Like, what’s the point of going if it’s just complete blackness for miles upon miles? Plus, the Void makes your own powers null and useless; it’s not known why things like your own powers, electricity and other gadgets stop working here, but it’s also why it is not a good idea to go down there to visit.

If you get trapped in the Void, you’re practically helpless! If you have no powers, no electricity, no food, no water, and no place to shelter under, it isn’t the most pleasant experience here. Getting trapped in the real world is different, since at least you have electricity and other things to survive, but this is the one place a rule is set in place to not go. So while no rule officially exists for the Void, it’s just common knowledge to avoid it all together.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a rule gets placed on it one of these days though! But I doubt it, since the Void is much harder to get to than the real world is. I wonder if anyone’s been there recently since that documented ancient report I told you about?
