SUMMER TEMPERATURES TO SPIKE SOON

The dream world is preparing for summer to fully show itself in the following weeks.

The Dimension Weather Prediction Service recently confirmed that temperatures in the dream world are likely to spike within the next week or two. While they are unsure what's causing the spike, they say their models are currently picking up an increase in temperatures in the coming weeks.

Previously, the DWPS said that this summer was going to be “Near-above average” than has been historically seen. So it’s no surprise that they are forecasting a spike in temperatures soon now that summer has arrived.

“Our models are trending in the direction that it’s going to get hot in the dream world soon,” Cirrus at the DWPS tells me, “It’s normal for summer to be hot, but a sudden spike in temperatures is a bit odd. Still, we did say this summer would be near-above average.”

As temperatures are predicted to rise, dream world residents are taking advantage of this and preparing to observe the occasion in the right ways.

“If it’s gonna get hot soon, then we gotta prepare in the right way!” a local pool-goer says, “I’m talking beach balls, sunglasses, flip flops and lots of sand!”

“Looks like we’re going to have to bring out the sunscreen, tank tops and surfboards. Gotta catch some waves to cool off!” a local surfer tells me.

Various dimensions will see the effects of the heat, but not all of them. The DWPS says that the dimensions that will see the most of the heat will likely prompt heat watches and warnings soon.

“When a Heat Watch is issued, it means that temperatures in a dimension will be over 95 degrees fahrenheit or 35 degrees celsius for a prolonged period of time soon,” Cirrus explains, “When a Heat Warning is issued, it means that temperatures have already hit the threshold for the warning to be issued.”

Cirrus says that these types of advisories should be taken seriously like any other advisory as being in the heat for too long can be life-threatening.

“When it gets too hot, you need to stay cool. We’re not sure how hot it’s going to get, but based on the current models, it could get pretty hot. Stay tuned to the forecasts!” she says.

The dream world is expected to turn up the thermostat within the next week or so. Residents are asked to prepare accordingly for the heat once the DWPS begins issuing advisories.

DWPS TO TEAM UP WITH DFPS FOR WEATHER DATA COLLECTION

The DWPS has announced that they are collaborating with the Dimension Forest and Parks Service to conduct another public weather data collection event for the summer.

According to the details, both organizations agreed to get together to do this event as promotion for getting the public to learn more about both the weather and the environment.

"Last year, we let the public come volunteer and observe different weather stations across the dream world to see how summer was looking like," DWPS Chief Tropos says in a statement, "This year, I am happy to announce that the DFPS will also help out with that data collection as we both try to teach the public a thing or two about the weather and our lands." 

Chief Tropos says that this is especially a good time to sign up for volunteering as the DWPS says that temperatures are expected to spike soon and they want the public to see how the weather data is holding up with their forecasts.

"There's nothing like actually seeing the data up close and in person to gain some trust in the DWPS, but also learn some weather facts," the chief says, "Plus, we'll have DFPS forest rangers tagging along to give tips and provide assistance with the data collection. It all works out."

The chief says that they will also be on the lookout for any strange readings on weather stations, as last winter there were strange anomalies in weather data. While nothing strange has popped up yet, this event could provide something eye opening.

"The spike in temperatures is already a bit odd," Chief Tropos says, "We'll definitely be looking at the data very well during this event."

The DWPS is currently accepting sign ups for volunteers to tag along. The data collection event is expected to begin next week, and DWPS employees and DFPS forest rangers will also tag along in different groups to help out.

Dear Lucid, what's the easiest type of portal to open?

Hello Tel. There are many kinds of portals that you can make believe it or not. There are those that you can make out of doors, those out of wood planks, rift portals, but the easiest type of portal to make is one from a box.

As long as you know the basics of how to make a teleportation portal, a box is the easiest way to actually make that portal. I am pretty sure you have seen box portals throughout the dream world and wondered why they might be so common. Box portals are easy to make if you know the basics; however, as with any portal, you do need authorization from the DPF to utilize it. Box portals do have some limitations though, such as the fact that they cannot be used to teleport to incredibly vast distances nor can you teleport to other worlds. For that, you will need a rift portal to do that, and well, I know first hand.

Dear Lucid, what other job would you consider taking if it wasn’t the DPF?

Greetings Emma. After spending many years in the Academy, I was known for my research, works, projects, and likewise. Of course, I would not be here if it was not for all of the professors and educators who helped me in my academic journey.

I suppose if the DPF was not an option for me, I would have become a professor. I have been told I would be good as an educator, so I do not see why I would turn down the chance to get to teach others. After all, knowledge is power.

Dear Lucid, could you beat AI?

Greetings Arthur. Artificial Intelligence looks to be one of the most disappointing things that humans have implemented on themselves. To have something like that takes away the notion for the human brain to do its own thinking and solving. Whatever happened to writing pieces yourself? What about solving problems on your own? Why does the AI have to do that? Humans stoop lower and lower every year it seems…

Could I beat an AI? Hmm…I do not want to get ahead of myself, but I suppose it would depend on what exactly you want me and the AI to do. I simply do not like this being implemented everywhere at such a fast pace. Soon, humans will be the ones serving the AI, but do not I did not warn you…

Dear Lucid, have you read the book Fahrenheit 451 and have books ever been banned in the dream world?

Hello Francine. Another question this week? It seems you might be a fellow bookworm for you to ask more book related questions. Well yes, I have also read Fahrenheit 451 and yes, I also have the book itself memorized quite well. 

When it comes to the book itself, it also takes place in a dystopian society where a totalitarian government is after works of literature they deem to be…bad. Firefighters do not put out fires, but rather, they start it. If you are suspected of having a book, they burn the book and then burn your house. Now, as a bookworm, this is horrifying to me. Luckily, the dream world is far from that.

Books have not been banned in the dream world as far as I know. The only books or works of literature that have been banned are, of course, all of my Academy research papers, projects, and works that I published are both banned and ultimately destroyed after the Council ordered it so. Any written piece of literature, either by a human real world author or dream world author, are readily available to read in the dream world’s Grand Library. It is a belief that books are sacred and should never be banned, unless you are me…ahem, well, at least we do not have to worry about a horrific scenario like the one in Fahrenheit 451.

Dear Lucid, what’s the craziest dream world conspiracy theory you’ve heard?

Greetings Connie. There are plenty of conspiracy theories about different things in the dream world, and I have heard a lot throughout the years. I want to say that the craziest one I have heard of, in my opinion, is the conspiracy that the Council does not even exist. Yes, that is a theory out there, and Nate told me about it.

Essentially, it is the theory that the Council of the dream world has never existed, and that the DPF is actually the one who is in charge of the dream world. The Council is just a fictitious organization made up by the DPF in order to control the dream world. Some of the reasons and explanations are interesting, to say the least. The DPF is made up of various branches who already are in charge of different things in the dream world- essentially, they already have us under their control with all the various branches. Also, it is strange that no one has physically seen the Council in person because “it is very rare” to even see them; so, could it just be that they do not exist?

Most who see the Council are humans looking to get back to the real world, but it could just be that the Bureau of Real World Affairs does all the work themselves. Furthermore, the earliest records of the Council are “locked up” and not available to the public. Considering that the Council has supposedly existed for millenia, it is definitely strange that their earliest records are “locked up” but could they just not exist because they’re not real?

Even more crazier, to further the notion that the Council is real, it was said that the DPF and I conspired to banish and seal me as further proof that the Council is in fact real. The DPF is known as an arm of the Council, but what if they are what the Council actually is?  Now that is definitely crazy, but is this all true?

Well, if you do not want to know and wish to keep this theory in your head, then I would say to skip ahead, but if you want to know the answer…well, this is all false. The Council is indeed a real organization, the DPF is not in control of the rules, and I was indeed sealed up by them. You can trust me as your friend on this. After all, friends do not lie to each other, do they?

Dear Lucid, what are your plans for the summer?

Hello Cally. I have not thought much about my plans for the summer season in the dream world to be honest with you. I am meeting up with Nate to discuss and spend time with them, but otherwise, there is not much else I could do. 

I do not think things are going to get intense for me to have to intervene. Recent events have been manageable and if something comes up, I am sure Nate and M3-0W got this. I suppose I will go and try to find a new book to read. Do you have any recommendations? Or am I supposed to be the one giving recommendations? Hmm… I will see what I can find, but my summer plans are nice and easy. I suppose we will see what happens.
